however the casualties were made by the bullets shot by the army...

Here we go again. dreamers thinking that the red shirts in 2010 were all sterling peaceful souls. No matter how many time they hear about "bring a million litres of petrol & we will burn Bangkok", the rampaging through hospitals & the general pillage plunder and burning of malls, they say "It was all the Army's fault." The only thing missing from the above idiotic comment was to blame "Mark & Suthep" again. The reds were thugs then and they were thugs again this year. Yes, Suthep's crowd had some thugs too but to a very minor degree compared to what was coming from the PTP/UDD side. I would almost say Suthep's crowd were in self defense mode because the police would/could not give them any protection, even with photos of the perp's. However Violence from either side is to be deplored and sorry matey but the reds were and are always more violent than the Yellows or the anti-govt demonstrators. (or the army)

Yes. The reds are peaceful, and the yellows not. Someone mentioned Seh Deang, an army officer who fought for the Thai people, as someone they would not be proud of. So, I assume you are instead proud of the sniper who assassinated him while he was being interviewed by a journalist. That is so twisted as to be almost unbelievable.

Bangkok was "burned" by yellow fifth columnists (see the video). Red shirts went into one hospital because yellows had posted snipers in the windows, and it was days after She Deang's murder by a sniper. No one will deny the medical establishment here is completely yellow, except I guess Dr. Weng, and those poor nurses who were working at the aid station and gunned down when peaceful Mark closed the demo in 2010.

Yes, Sutheps crowd were in "self-defence" mode, except for all the video and eyewitnesses who say otherwise. Truly, they were defending the polling station from voters.

If reds are so violent, how come its always them that do the dying, them that are beat up, tied up, and dropped in the river? Proud of that?

Take your meds

There is some Rabid Reds out today

from what I have seen, there are posters who cannot discuss 2010 or 2014, or 2009/8/7/6 for that matter, and just look at events and acknowledge what took place and then look at what could have been behind it or the general context of the situation and the aims of the groups involved.

They could be 'rabid' red or yellow - doesn't matter.

I'm very proud to support the red shirts, an oppressed people struggling for self-determination, freedom, and dignity. Are you proud?

Sadly that description of the RS's isn't accurate.

Well, I fully support your right to your political opinion.

It is far more than a political opinion. It is a sociological opinion as well.

You claim to be proud. You are proud of Arisaman, Jatuporn, Seh Daeng, Thida, Weng???? Really?

Sociopathic.

Who would want to be in politics.

They all end up in prison, exiled or dead. The ones who really care that is.

Well, some scam billions of USD before fleeing the country (and then being convicted).

I guess you lump YL into the "don't care category?"

Actually this decision will only galvanise the people of Thailand at the next election.

More red shirt sacrificial lambs going to jail for standing up for their democratic while the yellow elite hide behind their faceless men and walk free will give the people more reason to reject those who instigated the robbery of power of two democratically elected leaders who won with the greatest majorities in Thailand political history.

This might seem harsh now but the world is watching and Thailand has been widely condemned for their actions.

Quite rightly the PTP are biding their time and these actions will only swell their numbers at the ballot box.

Not if the party is dissolved.

Is that part of the junta's "correct democracy" ? I bet you just love to follow orders.

The hospital was raided (April 30) days before Seh Daeng was killed (May 14).

In 2010 while living up country, I witnessed with my own eyes bus loads of these men you are so proud of being given 500 little insensitives to demonstrate. Surely these self determined, dignified people didn't need financial gain to do what they felt so strongly about.

Certainly not all of the deaths were from the bullets fired by the RTA. All of the casualties were a result of the red shirts and their actions.
Any more fairy tales?

Thaksin is an advocate of democracy?

I find your appraisal of the situation facile.

PTP has lost significant traction upcountry. The rice scam fiasco severely damaged them.

Proof????

Proof????

The partial results from the annulled elections. The conversations I have had with people. The lack of ANY red flags since before the coup in an area that used to have 100's of them. The defaced PTP banners and placards...

The most important of which are the conversations as I have had the opportunity to ask questions.

So interesting! The red shirts are the most advanced and modern Thais, while the yellows are still pre-modern, but still in charge. So sad that the courts now seem entirely politicised. If only we could get Thaksin back to clean up this mess, and send these guys back to the barracks.

"If only we could get Thaksin back to clean up this mess,...." What mess?

It required the intervention of Prayuth and his merry men to clean up the "Thaksin" instigated mess.

The only mess Thaksin would be fit for, should he ever return, is the officers mess at army HQ as a waiter.

Thought the merry men robbed the rich to give to the poor?

Dunno whether the sentencing in appeal court will bring the rest of the Thai dissidents back home, as requested by the PM, with as quoted "Please come back to go through justice system in Thailand,” Gen. Prayuth said yesterday. “I will give you fairness. I will instruct the Ministry of Justice to take care of you." whistling.gif (Source: Khaosodenglish)

It was a pretty light sentence and he will be free in 3 months.

The bottom line to me is that the Yellows are status quo as far as the Thai social hierarchy while the Reds seem determined to up end this centuries old structure. The both have their goals but for the same reason. Both sides are eager to feed off the public trough in the process. The Yellows can get away with the same type of antics that the Reds participate in but don't get punished while the Reds do get punished by the status quo law enforcement and judicial system. The military is right up there with the Yellows in supporting the status quo.

Many may think that the Red leadership is corrupt because of things like the rice pledging scheme which was a populist give away but then the current unlawful military government (pro Yellow in my mind) is doing the same thing in subsidizing fertilizer, etc. for the rice farmers and the rubber tree growers. It's still a giveaway to placate the masses.
