Featured Replies

.
Anyone know a local source for Bun Bo Hue (or similar), a Vietnamese soup?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

You saw the Anthony Bourdain show, eh?

No. Not here. Forget about it.

I've had it in the U.S. Great stuff and no, folks, not the same as Pho.

Heck, I don't even know one place that does authentic Pho in town either.

More like shortcut Thai Pho is all.

Weird thing about Thailand.

The wonderful cuisines of NEIGHBORING countries like Malaysia, Burma, and Vietnam are so poorly appreciated here.

Not really surprising. The general belief seems to be that everything Thai is best.

An exception which proves the rule is Lao food. Because it's so similar to Isaan.

Another regional food type very rare here: Indonesian.

Even weirder from an international perspective is the less than stellar representation of authentic Chinese food in Thailand. Better options in Bangkok of course, but it doesn't compare to KL, Singapore, or some major U.S. cities.
