Beware Nok Air website methods

I have been using Nok Air's website for buying tickets from Yangon to Bangkok and back for a long time now and they are usually cheaper than Air Asia. So generally the prices for their tickets are good. The service is good and they give you 30 kg baggage allowance, but you have to be careful not to be overcharged for an extra 5 kg.

In recent days however I have noticed a method they use on their website which is essentially a way to get more money out of you without you noticing. Its called DECEPTIVE practice.

The price they quote to you for the same flight on the same day is different depending on the number of people you buy tickets for. They increase the prices by 100 or 200 baht or more per ticket depending on whether you book for 1 or 2 or more people. Per booking.

So you need to check the price of the ticket for a single person first.

Then put in 2 or 7 like me and see they add 100 or 200 baht to the same ticket. (They call this dynamic pricing, but it is deceptive pricing)

If you buy 7 individual tickets you save yourself 1400 baht. I made a mistake of trusting them to give me the same price and lost 1400 baht which they wont refund. That is how I found out the way they scam. The more tickets you buy on a single booking the higher the price!!!!!!!

So they are ripping a lot of money of their customers this way.

Only way to beat their SCAM is to buy each tickets individually one at a time. WHAT JERKS they are?

They also never tell you the baggage allowance on the Yangon route. When you log on to the website they automatically add 5kg extra costs to you ticket. You have to uncheck that. PUSH SELLING. and then your ticket never tells you your luggage allowance.

Check here 30 kg free!!!!

So I contacted them and complained but got lame replies. Of course they dont want people to know they are ripping them off so now you know the NOK AIR scamming methods. DONT LET THEM RIP YOU OFF!

Oh Just get on the Plane Whinger.biggrin.png

I've seen this type of pricing on both Nok and AAsia. Since I have a family of 5 I always check search for the best pricing.

What I presume is that; each particular flight has (x) amount of promotion seats - so therefore If you want more seats and

the promo seats are unavailable, it'll just default to the next higher rate.

Bit of a bummer if you are booking 7 tickets individually and all the seats are gone before you complete all the bookings

I flew with Nok form Hat Yai, Don Muang about 3 weeks ago the first time in about a year, they were awful. Air asia only for me now

Actually air asia did a similar stunt on me when I booked 4 tickets from , Penang to Sing

All discount airlines try to nickle and dime their customers. You have to check, or uncheck,

everything on their website very carefully or you'll get stuck paying for things you didn't mean to.

And there's no hope of ever getting a refund once you've completed the transaction.

If they can make a few extra baht off of you then i can probably save a few baht on my ticket.

;-)

I just tried it with a random flight with Air Asia "Now everyone can fly"

1 pax 5005 baht

2 pax 5005 baht each

3 pax 5925 baht each

Now everyone can fly, but if you want to book together you will be charged more

I got caught out for around 1000 baht , the"Amount due" window said 8450 and when I pressed"pay"it charged my card another grand, I repeated the exact same booking to see if I had got it wrong and again "Amount Due" 8450. When I complained to air Asia , lengthy process to say the least, they sent me a copy of the itinerary which was irrelevant as the charge I was talking about was on the screen, after re-complain they sent me the itinerary again. After sending a scathing email they apologized for being thick but offered no explanation or refund

I had something happen on Thai air , the website flashed and booked the wrong date . I called them and at first they said there was nothing they could do but i asked for supervisor and kept complaining. finally they agreed to look into it and did find that the website had made an error and changed my flight day for free. Thai air is higher priced but it sounds like it is worth it to me.

to be fair to Air Asia, I checked another flight on a more popular route and the per passanger price was the same if you booked just 1 seat or 9. I suspect my earlier example may be due to availability and moving up a tier in the price banding which was then split between the ticket?

You may think that they have a certain amount of cheap tickets and they are getting partially filled in a big order and then they split with the next level, but if you buy a large block the cheap ones are still there. My original 7 was for a group of Thai visitors booked a few months in advance.

Just did another for my wife and I on a flight this week. I booked one at a time and saved 100 baht each.

Slowly getting my money back.

This is not a simple formula by the airline and I guarantee it is not designed in the customers interest.

It is about getting bums on seats at the maximum price they can squeeze from you.

Why does AA charge more if you use your credit card online ? How else can you book online ? The card use is a plus for them , then they charge you for helping them . whistling.gifwhistling.gifwhistling.gif Do they think I am stupid ?

use paypal

You are lucky they even let you buy 7 tickets online. Many airlines wouldn't.

Edit: Oops. Seems I am wrong, sorry. I checked a couple and they say they allow up to 9.

I will retire from this thread.

I have had the same issue with Nok online bookings twice which is truly bizarre.

Booking in Thailand online using debit/credit cards (Visa).

They double charged the card and refused to refund the double charge, even though it was for the same name on the same flight, like <deleted>. First was with a Thai card and the bank staff refused to help with a claim. Sure it was infuriating but ended up shrugging my shoulders with mai pen rai.

After avoiding them, I had to use them again with a foreign card, and they did it again, and refused to reverse the double charge, this time the western bank happily reversed it and I wasted a lot of time. NOK Air customer service is simply out there.

Also to the OP, you may get different rates if you clear your cache and cookies, One Australian Airline was busted quoting prices to people who checked a particular flight regularly, So people logged in were getting different prices to folks on a changing IP address with no cookies etc. I am not sure if they stopped that. Hows that for customer loyalty !!!

The airline sucks. They ripped up a case of mine checked in and when I went to get compensation told there is a maximum of 400 baht for damage and they offered 300.Cheapskate airline, poor customer service

Just go into 7.11 and pay cash.Job Done. I find Asia and Nok fair value.
