Egg prices now 2.60 - 2.70 Baht? Already since a long time we pay 4.00 Baht at the lowest, sometimes 4.50 here in upper Surin province. That's about 50% more. It doesn't hurt me at all, I just mention it. My wife just told me some charge 5.00 Baht at the market. That's near double of what it should be. I wonder what other TVF members pay.

My dog will be disappointed - he gets a hard boil every morning - if not by 0730 I hear about it. I could ask him to cut back to reduce demand, but he is not to concerned about others when it comes to food issues. I think lazy roosters can be blamed, just because it is a bit warm does not mean they have to sleep all day. Lets try out a rooster motivational program - we can show them chicken porn or something.

I guess if the farmers just charged what the needed to cover cost and make money a whole branch of government would be out of work, but that would be vary laissez-faire.

A rooster would certainly be motivated if he laid an egg, something to crow about.

True you can get eggs without - but you might run out of chickens at some point - The government would bit on any make work program is suggested.

Low production due to hot weather, and the egg producers are just now finding out it is hot in Thailand.

And what does the start of a new school term have to do with egg production?

Thailand has seasons, some are hotter or cooler than others, that is something you have just found out now.

The beginning of a new school term has nothing to do with production, it has to do with demand for eggs, as it said in the OP

People are being conned-

The price of eggs is a universe away from Thais being held hostage under marshall law-

Its a distraction

No-one in Thailand is being "held hostage", as you say, under what you presumably meant to be martial law.

You seem to think there is a connection between the Egg Farmers Association and the current government; it's not very likely that a group representing egg farmers could provide a distraction from whatever you think the population need distracting from by suggesting that egg prices could increase by less than the value of the smallest denomination coin of the Thai currency.

.

In my café we would buy a tray of eggs (size 2 - 30 per tray) for 60-65 baht (seasonal) for years up until 2011. 2011 the price shot up to 105 baht (same farm - excuse was that most eggs were being mass purchased and shipped to Bangkok - this is Chiang Mai btw). Now prices are 97-102 baht per tray, with a large over surplus. Shopping around (as we do often to ensure the lowest price/quality) - and our supplier has changed their suppliers several times for the same reason - we see this the norm in the industry - at least locally.

"Shopping around (as we do often to ensure the lowest price/quality) -"

Nice to see that you shop around to ensure the lowest quality. Good PR for your caff.

That's very odd considering that eggs sold for human consumption aren't fertilised.

Shame your reading ability is not in the same league as your foot-in-the-mouth posting eh? I clearly said Price/Quality - is that sum a little difficult for you? Let me help you - if the quality is high and the price low, then that is best - or would you prefer expensive crap instead? If the price is high and the quality low, that is the worst. Everything else is a balance between price and quality - with a sweetspot at the best quality where price is not an impact to sale price of the meal. Sheesh! Some people really like to advertise they are dumb as bricks!

Yes but TIT, probably mistook the word consumption to mean corruption... hence the chicks...

theres a speciality with dead baby chicks in the egg, forget the name, dosnt taste great and a little too crunchy for me.
