BANGKOK: -- A combined force of more than 50 drug enforcement officials and police yesterday searched and seized over 100 million baht of assets of a major drug dealer, Sarayuth Leelertrakul, in Wieng Papao district of Chiang Rai province.

The fugitive drug dealer wanted by the Chiang Mai provincial court for having in possession methamphetamines for salee , and money laundering.

Office of the Narcotic Control Board (ONCB) secretary general Permpong Chavalit said the search and seizure followed recent crackdown of a drug trafficking network and confession by arrested drug traffickers that Sarayuth is the owner who ran a major drug network in the North.

He said the wanted drug dealer bought several plots of land and houses in.Chiang Rai and Chiang Mai uding the drug money.

All the land he bought had no official documents in order to conceal real owner to prevent tracking of his assets.

Police all over the world are now going wild seizing peoples' assets on the thinnest pretext. US police, when they stop people on the highway, now routinely ask how much cash are you carrying. Then they seize it, and feel free to use it any way they please. One police department used seized cash to buy both an espresso machine and a margarita machine. If you tell them you're not carrying any cash, they will still search your car, and if they find it, it's gone. Either way, you have to go through hell to get your money back.

This guy must have missed a payment or something. Who will end up with that seized property?

A quick reminder to all "criminally minded" farangs. Never do illegal business, either directly, or even indirectly with a Thai. If the Thai gets busted (they confess to everything, and snitch on everyone they know, or have ever heard of), then you get busted. Capiche?
