Popular Post HughJass
I love my Honda CB500F and prefer its styling to the other R and the X model...others may disagree its only bad point for me is that the bars are too low causing weight on my hands and wrists I am 177cm tall, other riders of a different stature may not have this problem I have been looking into the possibility of fitting bars from the X model but on enquiring at the local Big Wing I was told it would involve changing switchgear, brake pipes and cables and also invalidate the warranty so after a little research I have bought some handlebar risers and had them fitted today there are no mods needed just the four bolts removed, bars lifted, risers installed and tighten up only the handlebar wiring zip ties were removed the improvement is vast with 90% of the weight on my wrists and hands gone the bike is much more comfortable to ride and even the mirrors seem to give a better view of whats behind here is the link to the product http://www.dirtshopthailand.com/th_ProductsDetail.aspx?pid=1088 not sure if the mods will allow the above link so heres the details Dirtbike shop BKK Zeta Bar Rise Kit for 22.5mm handlebars...height of riser 30mm up Product number ZE53 - 0130 Price 1490baht including EMS delivery....paid in cash at BKK bank and emailed copy of rcpt pics of bike are from internet..my bike is red

properperson
When i test drove a CB500F, i was quite surprised what a "lean over" riding position it had for an upright bike (if that makes any sense).....i bet those risers are a welcome addition..... The CB300F by contrast has only a slight "lean over" riding position.....

The CB650F on the other hand has a completely upright riding position, same as the CB500X. By contrast: the CBR500R has 13 degree. Both CBR300R and CBR650F have 20 degree. Wong!
I was going to fit some X bars when I got my 500F, but had the same resistance from Big Wing. After a few weeks, I no longer had weak wrists, so it wasn't an issue.

I find the levers a bit too loose and too short, I initially bought them only for my Girlfriend short hands, she likes to ride my CB500, and I teach her techniques. the levers are handy if you have short hands. but since I got big hands, the original was no problem for me. I'm willing to sell them for 500 baht the pair if you come pick them up (it's black color)

brfsa2
I test rode the X first, then when I rode the F, it was instant love crush. I agree that the X seat is not soft. cant wait for November Motorshow to find my new affair.
dave_boo
The seat is crap on the X and not as comfortable for taller riders. Don't know about crap as it seems good enough for short jaunts of 200 km or less, and as I am only 1.75m tall I'll defer to the opinions of riders who exceed my height as to their precieved comfort for them. I test rode the X first, then when I rode the F, it was instant love crush. I agree that the X seat is not soft. cant wait for November Motorshow to find my new affair. It's softer than either the old carbed CBR150 or the Ninja 250. Both of those are torture for touring although funnily enough I liked the CBR's plank a little more. It was a bit smaller but it allowed me to shift around a lot more and relieve sore spots.
