I did a search for this since I know this must have been asked a million times but the search function came up empty, so I apologize for posting it again.

Can I get my 30-day extension of my tourist visa in Chiang Mai, or do I have to do it in Bangkok? If I can do it up there, is the process any different from in Bangkok? Is there anything in particular I need to know?

Thanks

rolleyes.gifrolleyes.gif basically I would assume the answer is yes to your questions.

But first, please post a few more details ...... like what kind of extension you want .... and I sure some of the experts will be willing to give you a specific answers.

Any immigration office will do. You can do it in CM as well, no different requirement other than that CM can be very bussy and run out of que numbers early in the morning.

In Chiang Mai, a different "counter" handles tourist extensions vs. retirement & marriage extensions. A tourist doesn't need to arrive at 4 am to get a queue number. Arrival at a more reasonable time -- like 8 am will be sufficient to get a queue number to extend a tourist visa.
