Popular Post phantomfiddler
The biggest contributor to the sliding reputation of Thailand is the fact that thais can commit any crime against a tourist and get away with it due to the complacency of the police. monkeycountry
"The suspect claimed self-defence, saying the tourist, who appeared drunk, knocked him down and was about to beat him with the stick." Fleeing the scene of a crime kinda rules out the self defence argument in most cases imo.

When will the penny drop ? Complacency is not the correct term, 'lack of interest' would be more accurate. They could not give a toss what happens to you unless you offer money. Fleeing the scene of a crime kinda rules out the self defence argument in most cases imo. The big problem is that the police and courts seem to believe these stupid excuses and use them as mitigating factors to limit the punishment to a minimum. This is undermining the rule of law.
