Miss International Queen – a beauty pageant with a difference

Miss-International-Queen.jpeg

PATTAYA: -- Although on the face of it the Miss International Queen appears to be just like any other beauty pageant with beauties parading around in gowns, swim suits and national dress with the winner spending twelve months engaging in charity and promotional duties, there is one major difference, all of the contestants in this beauty competition are transgender women and one of the top prizes for the winner is cosmetic surgery, if of course she wants it.

The world’s largest transgender pageant hits the stage in Thailand for its 10th anniversary this year, there was press conference last week and the final of this event, aimed at building international awareness of transgender rights will take place at the Tiffany’s Show Theatre in Pattaya on November 7th. This truly international show includes 25 finalists from 21 different countries.

Contestants in Miss International Queen can be pre- or post-operation transgender, but must have been born biologically male. Candidates are competing for a top prize that includes US$12,500, and any surgery they wish to have, be it gender reassignment, or other cosmetic surgery.

Having surgery as the grand prize sounds a bit like those guys who get their wife a boob job for Christmas, but there’s no pretence that this contest is about inner beauty. And in its acceptance of that fact, Miss International Queen actually somehow comes off looking more honest than other, more conventional women’s beauty pageants.

a bunch of men, parading as women, as it is easier in pattaya to earn some big cash as the latter

The worlds gone mad.

25 finalists from 21 different countries, how does that work? Which country has more than one contestant in the finals? According to this web page, it started out with 72 contestants, if I counted them correctly, and the UK has only one (not three like in some sports competitions)

I don't understand this: "one of the top prizes for the winner is cosmetic surgery, if of course she wants it."

Seems the work has already been done.... if pre-op okay, but if post, what do you give the girl who gave her awl?

Didn't a man with a beard win one of these contests recently? Beards would be so cool...

It's complicated.

Not exactly. You're thinking of Eurovision. Won by an Austrian gay man who is not transgender but yes does sing in a dress.

If you don't like it here, go home!

(whistling.gif Smiley added just in case...)

Does anyone know the first prize for the winner of Mr International Tom?

Uhhhh, I got nothing! sad.png

Not a beauty contest, but a song contest, and in his own words he is not a transgender.

Some of them are smoking hot and could fool the wisest of men.

I prefer to watch a Cat free fight. Two Katoys in a ring and there goes the bell.

This would be a bigger hit in Thailand....

Venezuelan crowned transgender beauty queen in Thai contest

PATTAYA - A 22-year-oldVenezuelan was crowned "Miss International Queen" on Friday night at a beauty contest that bills itself as the world's largest and promotes the rights of transsexuals and transvestites.

Isabella Santiago beat 21 contestants from 18 countries to win the title and prize money of $12,500 at a glittering pageant in the Thai resort town of Pattaya. The winner of the 2014contest can also opt for free cosmetic surgery.

Santiago, who wore a shimmery white evening gown, laughed and said "Sleep!" when asked about her plans after the win.

"When on stage, she is so elegant and that’s why the judges’ decision was unanimous," said Seri Wongmontha, one of the pageant’s judges.

The contest, in its tenth year, was held at the Tiffany’snightclub famous for its transvestite cabaret.

Judge for yourself, I would have voted Miss Thailand based solely on looks. Dude looks like a women.

Not my thing but it is good to see Thailand leading the way in equal rights and privileges for transgenders and the like. Its probably one of the few things I like about Thailand.

Jingthing : Does he have a brother? Hilarious clap2.gifcheesy.gif

Ah Thailand! Where the most beautiful women here are . . . men!

Thailand is not leading the way in that. Trans people here can't even change gender in their ID cards. They face massive employment discrimination except in a few fields. They have zero legal protection against that. Don't by deceived by a show.

Definately a bloke and he should use that cosmetic surgery prize carefully. Makes an ugly looking female.
