Rainy Season ends but Pattaya continues to flood

flood-3.jpg

PATTAYA:--Although the rainy season in Thailand has officially ended, this is of no comfort to the people of Pattaya who, on Friday afternoon, were once again subjected to sustained heavy rainfall which caused widespread flash flooding.

One of the worst areas affected by the rains, which lasted 30 minutes, was Pattaya Third Road where rain water levels reached 80cms in depth. In other known hot-spots, such as Soi Buakhao, South Pattaya Road and Pattaya Beach Road, levels were measured at 50cms in depth at certain locations.

Although flash floods in Pattaya are a regular occurrence during the wetter months of the year, waters normally disperse within 2 hours of the rainstorms.

And authorities have done nothing to very little to deal with the problem or to prevent it from happening , while in the mean time complaining about lack of quality tourists

The thing is, to put it correct and ensure zero flooding would cost a huge amount of money and a lot of disruptive excavation work, this cost far outweighs the minor disruption caused a handful of times a year so it will never be done.

Sure, the city hall numpties will continue to have meetings, meetings about meetings and carry out studies as they do, but nothing real will ever happen.
