Importing clothes....tax?

Featured Replies

Hello,

I am ordering clothes from an online retailer (ASOS) to be sent to my Thailand address, the value of the clothes is approximately 5000 baht, I have read that in some cases import tax is imposed on clothing coming into the country, and in some cases can be as much as 80%......

I have also read that some people receive clothes with no additional fees....

anybody have any more information? eg: likelihood of getting charged a large fee when I collect? or chances of the clothes being caught?

Thanks in advance

Regular post is the way to go,but I don't think anyone can tell for sure if you'd be hit with import tax. A colleague recently paid 3000 on a pair of shoes he got online. He'd previously bought many times without being hit with duties.

Taxes should be 30% but you can reduce risk by using registered airmail and avoiding courier companies as DHL and other monkeys.
