August 2, 200619 yr Hi, I would like to know if i'm able to use a triband gsm phone purchased in the States here in Thailand. I asked this as I know that not too long ago phones here needed to be chipped. Obviously, this would be for a phone model already being usd here. Any replies appreciated. tks.
August 2, 200619 yr As long as your phone is unlocked it is possible to use it here, I have one and do so every day. Most phones are pretty easily unlocked, I have motorola and had it unlocked at MBK. moving to the communications/internet section.
August 2, 200619 yr Make/brand? Model number? Mobile operator purchased from in the U.S.A.? Desired network here in Thailand? Triband phones typically support GSM900/1800/1900, and if unlocked, it would work here on either/both GSM900/1800 networks. I have several tri-band phones (Nokia 6100, Nokia 6070) and use those here (Thailand), on DTAC and AIS/One-2-Call post-paid and pre-paid services, and in the USA on TMobile's GSM 1900 network (using a TMo post-paid SIM).
August 3, 200619 yr Author It would be an unlocked model that is also sold here in LOS. Thanks again for the replies.
