Has anybody else been having problems with the USAA Investment Management? I've written various emails and called several times but gotten no joy. I'm trying to export complete cost basis information in a csv file or import it into Quicken but neither work. Apparently they're not sure whether they will support TurboTax this year. I've heard grumbling from some of my friends too. One representative said that I could just do my Schedule D and 8948 by hand this year! I was not amused. I know that many TV posters have dealings with USAA. What do you think?

USAA has gone down hill, IMHO, since they started trying to be more than an Insurance Company. They are now into Banking (which is pretty good) but some of the other areas they are involved in sort of make you ask, Why?

I tried to cancel my USAA Master Card and you would have thought that I was trying to deal with Comcast. I finally told the CSR, if you are going to work for a company made up of ex military types then you had better get used to just following orders, I am not used to explaining myself, just do what I tell you to do, and leave the why up to me

As far as Turbo Tax is concerned here is the message on the USAA site:

Through Jan. 1, 2015, TurboTax is working with the IRS to prepare next year's tax forms. Until then, you can use the TurboTax website for USAA members to learn more about TurboTax products or to see your account information.

Thanks for the info. I have learned that cost basis without date acquired is exportable from the investments page and that USAA will provide complete 1099-B forms next year so the Schedule D and 8949 are doable by noting in the blank for date acquired on the 8949 "See attached 1099-B." USAA is working on making the data accessible to Quicken. After asking for someone who could bridge the gap between the brokerage group and the internet services group, they did connect me to Emily who found the information that I needed. USAA actually WAS sympathetic to my complaints and frustration but it took some effort to get the situation resolved.

usaa used to be great for insurance and they were also my first brokerage way back in the 1990s. But i have found them to be very non supportive. They are too full of themselves and too cocky. They think they are the best and really don't care if you stay or leave. a case in point is many years ago they got sued and lost and had to pay all members a fair amount of money for over charging rates. But instead of paying out the money they "applied" the money to each member's account. The problem is you couldn't use the points/money for anything. You could only get the money in cash if you canceled your policy and left. So I did. My statefarm auto insurance is quite cheap. My Etrade brokerage is wonderful and does all I need.

I think USAA is pretty good. For Insurance and banking. Never had a problem no matter where I was in the world. Don't get me started on BofA and the other banks there. Horrible service.

With that being said, I think their online brokerage tools are pretty poor. And even worse after the changes in August.
