Hi,

A small school in Krabi want to hire me to teach german language but i haven’t the certificate required (degree). Is there any chance i get a visa to teach legally ? This school know nothing about the administrative procedure. Which place in Krabi should i ask and apply for the visa ? How many hours by week i have to teach to get.

Thanks for your help

Hi,

The chances are pretty slim without a degree. Even if you'd have one in any field, it must be translated into Thai and verified. But you could try something else.

Ask them if they can employ you as a trainer, teacher's assistant, language assistant, etc...and you'd bypass the Khurusapha ( Teacher's Council of Thailand).

That would allow you to receive a work permit, but then it's still up to the Immigration if they issue a Non-B visa for you.

It's not important how many hours you're actually working.

Best of luck. Viel Glueck.-facepalm.gif

P.S. Try to find somebody from the school who knows somebody at the labor department. That might do the trick.

You will not get a work permit to teach without a degree.

However, the school can hire you for a position under the education other than teacher catagory. You will need to have a role/role description that is appropriate to your education and work experience and is an appropriate or feasable position to have within the school.

If you can do this you should get a work permit. If you have a marriage visa you wont have to worry about immigration, tourist visa will have to be changed to a non B. If you are on retirement visa you wont get a work permit.

Good luck

For a teaching assistent you still must have a degree OR relevant work experience.

Unless it is a language school of course.

It varies from province to province and should the school have friends at the labor and immigration, it wouldn't be a problem at all.

But it's not easy to teach German at a school, as I did that just for fun at two schools an hour/week. I had to use English and Thai to be successful.

Another problem might be that there's also a German curriculum needed. Seems that the OP never taught before?

Why would a small school hire a German language teacher? Just curious.

Errr.... To teach German! Teaching Thais to make decent sausages would also be a good idea too! :)
