Where in the World could you walk free after dealing in human bodyparts?

Thailand!

Where in the world would someone post banal rubbish such as that? ThaiVisa! Nobody has been charged with that.

The BBC are reporting that the BIB are ' looking for ' two Americans wanted in connection with the case and who have left the country. Looking for fugitives who have already left the country ? We know how much attention that's likely to get.

Wait until the international media find out they were detained and then released so there's the potential for another embarrassment for the BIB.

Locally there will be speculation as to why they were allowed to go and there's no need for me to expand on that, is there ?

He said he was going to Cambodia and 'would return to Thailand'.

It seems that, if the parts were not stolen, there is no law against buying and possessing preserved body parts. Now that Siriraj Hospital has noticed that their stuff is missing, the RTP have been made aware that there was criminal activity. They are not psychic. I can't be too hard on the RTP on this one if Siriraj hadn't reported the theft before the guy left the country. No one on the forum doubted the guy's story that he bought the items in the market; why should the RTP not believed him? Everyone would have been up in arms for holding the guy before they new an actual crime was committed. No need to jump on the police for every little thing because there is lots to complain about without this case.

Anyway, I have a feeling this fellow will have some 'splaining to do if/when he gets back to the US as it has been in the US national news.

They released him and now they want to arrest himfacepalm.gif

Nothing to do with the fact it is on the news around the world.facepalm.gif

He told the police he was going to Cambodia and he will come back if needed, wonder how much he had to put on the table to be released.facepalm.gif

Obviously a transaction took place. Now they are going to extradite him on a charge of making a false declaration on a customs form. clap2.gif

Diverting attention away from the market and from those whom he purchased his stuff from? Suddenly a second guy involved, and these two just walk into one of the most high end hospitals and proceed to steal body parts? Hard to believe.

I've been to the forensic museum several times and taken people there. There is ZERO security as who in their right mind would steal body parts. On the other hand, hundreds of millions of dollars of paintings have been stolen in the last few years from several different European museums including 'The Scream' and your would think their security would be better than Siriraj Hospital's.

Not a real problem..they know where he lives. They have his Las Vegas Address. They mailed the packages to their home address. Consider they most likely not only violated Thai law, but International custom laws too. Got no place to hide.

Wonderful police work. He did promise to return. The word of a man who allegedly has a record in the US

Should the police have arrested him and held him in jail on the off chance somebody might report a 20 year old murder or a theft?

If the police had done that, what would you say about them then?

Duh.....

Why did they let him go then... Doesn't anyone have a book of the general law in a police station?

Is it legal to export human body parts out via dhl?

Ummmm. No.

He was released because at that stage there was no evidence of an offence being committed. The hospital had not reported anything missing, that happened much later, hence the further investigations.

A distinction needs to be made between "exporting human body parts" and sending preserved-years-ago items by courier but apparently the charges do not relate to the export question so presumably no offence there.

The body parts were declared as toys...there is precisely the type of minor offence which should have allowed the cops to keep them

as they were in a hospital museum they are obviously preserved and would not be viable for any medical purpose. it is not the same as dealing in organs for sale.

are international arrest warrants issued for well known thai fugitives ? many of whom have stole millions.

The arrest warrant does include dealing in human body parts.

I am confused. Is this related to the recent case of the American purchasing baby parts from a Thai market?

.

yes it is same..but suprise suprise nomention of that first report since it proof to be a little factually-challenged.

seem to happen all the time.there is one dummy story first and then follow closely by one that is probably a little more true.

maybe they like to invent 2 stories for each as they dont know which version to use.

first have to check if they stepped on any important toes.5555

letting him go initially bcoz he promised to return ?

or bcoz of fear it will catch international attention that may give another blow to the already crumbling tourism sector ?

Seeking warrant of arrest bcoz unfortunately it has already made headlines in the west ? so quick !

Need answers.

The dimwitted RTP at work: Let culprits, prime suspects, alleged murderers, key witnesses, etc. run first, then later issue a warrant... thumbsup.gif
