November 22, 201411 yr Turning on headlights after it's well and truly dark. Sometimes not turning on headlights at all. Dim street lights, almost mood lighting. Reading under very low light. Brightness on iPhone/iPad at Max low. Just curious.
November 22, 201411 yr Nah!....they can't see any better than anyone else... They just think their saving on the energy bill And maybe they are (but not much) ...except for the not turning on car lights at night, that's just plain dumb!
November 22, 201411 yr Dead Yoda is not. Alive and well on the Degabar system is he. Pull my finger you do. May, with you, the force be. .
November 22, 201411 yr You save fuel when the headlights are turned off and you won't wear the globes out either.

You can't expect them to keep their lights on when all they are doing is trying to save petrol.
November 22, 201411 yr Because you have your headlights on they can see you and they can then plot your position and estimate the time of arrival or when you are going to collide with them. . Edited November 22, 201411 yr by xen
November 23, 201411 yr What bothers me is the large number of motorcyclists who don't turn on their lights after dark in rural areas. If I were accidentally to hit one, no doubt I'd be held to be at fault. I've asked friends why they don't turn the lights on, and the consensus seems to be that it's for the thrill of the experience. Lunacy.
November 23, 201411 yr Yes they can see in the dark and also see your bank balance too. Of course they are all out to get farangs.

Lunacy. Some believe it takes away "power" saves voltage....... When I lived in the sticks it was a scary drive with these riders on the road......no tail lights..... Then there's the ones that have their headlight on but can't see the light because their groceries are stacked in the basket blocking the light.......can't see them coming at you.......
November 23, 201411 yr I have always wondered why bikes on the roads have no headlights on but rear-lights on or vice vurser, I don't think its because the lights have blown I think they do it on purpose to look cool! especially madness when they are riding on the wrong side of the road! but hey this is Thailand and who would change it

Whether it actually makes an appreciable difference to your fuel consumption is another matter, though.
November 23, 201411 yr You save fuel when the headlights are turned off and you won't wear the globes out either. Years ago I worked at a large govt agency in the UK. It had a very big floodlit carpark. One of the old guys in my office used to arrive early in the morning and as soon as he pulled into the compound would turn off his headlights whilst still driving to his regular parking space. He insisted it prolonged the life of his cars bulbs.
November 24, 201411 yr On one of my first visits to my wife's village, we found a dead teenager on the side of the road, he had been riding his bicycle at night without lights, a truck got him. All our bicycles now have lights, front and back.
