TAT: Thailand sees increase in tour reservation

BANGKOK, 3 December 2014 (NNT) – Thailand has received satisfying trade results of tourism packages from the Middle East, with an expected 8.16 percent growth of tourists from the region next year, said Tourism Authority official.

According to the Deputy Governor for International Marketing of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Juthaporn Rerngronasa, Thai tourism companies have received positive feedback from the middle-east market.

The TAT brought 8 private companies to attend the trade fair in Jordan and Egypt during the 24-28 November 2014.

She said that companies from Egypt and Jordan gave positive feedback to the tourism industry in Thailand as they have reserved the tour package in Thailand for 2015.

She said that this marks the beginning of a new market for Thailand, as tourists from the Middle-East are considered high-end groups with high purchasing power who want to visit Thailand, especially for couples looking for honeymoon destinations.

The number of tourists from Jordan expanded by 38 percent during last year, a total of 12,000 tourists visits, while the number of tourists from Egypt expanded impressively by 46 percent in 2013 as well.

It is expected that the debut to the Middle-Eastern market will further expand the tourist numbers from both countries by an additional 10 percent in 2015, said the TAT Deputy Governor.

However, the overall number of tourists from the Middle-East for this year is shrinking, especially tourists from the UAE. The number of tourists has shrinked by 7.63 percent during the last 10 months.

The Deputy Governor of TAT expects that there will be up to 721,000 tourists from the Middle East visiting Thailand next year, generating 48.2 billion baht in revenue.

The TAT is now looking to draw more tourists form the North-African market, such as Morocco, Algeria, and Tunisia.

Desperate much.......

Easy mat's tour reservation goes from -400 to -397 is +3.....

My partner runs shops in a few retail areas with which some are quite popular tourist ones & I don't recall middle east tourists being mentioned as quality spenders or even that friendly or polite in general :-)

TAT can talk & that is about all they can do while milking the funds and coming up with brainless marketing strategy .

"Tour Reservation"

Meaning tourists have their reservations about coming to Thailand?

IS in town?

TAT paid to bring some tourist companies to a trade fair. All right, an all expenses paid vacation for the company reps....I expect they did give positive feedback.

But when the dust settles the number of tourists from the Middle-East is shrinking.

I love how TAT puts a positive spin on their media releases....I expect they took the same article writing course as real estate agents because even in a down market the time to buy is now!!!

Bending over (!!) for 12.000 arrivals from Jordan in a year!!

And ignoring 12.000 tourists from the UK daily during peak season.

Makes sense!! (Thai sense)

Are they trying to balance out the "high-end" Arabs with the Moroccans and Algerians that they are now trying to draw here?

Yeah, beware of the Muslims, very unpredictable bunch!!

My 4 year old son recently said to me on a trip to Thailand via Abu Dahbi,he said,Dad,why are the lady's here dressed like spys?i replied because they probably are my son.

Tit for TAT comes to mind

So to sum it up. 8.16% - 7.63% = 0,53% is the actual increase that they expect next year.

Good for thailand.....no more worries about rapes just a couple more suicide bombings.

Like many other such reported stories recently,This is not news, just worthless propaganda!

Every day now and it used to be just once or twice a week. A glowing report about what is "going" to happen but never a positive report about what "has" happened. This was true of g2g rice sales, recently exports, car sales, and on it goes as things actually get worse.

Does that mean more Isis holiday makers ? Be careful what you wish for .....

I caught my self with a calculator trying to make sense out of this article. Why do I do this to myself?

Got it.

8.16 Egyptians visited Thailand last year.

They expect that number to grow by one, therefore 8.16 multiplied by 1 is 8.16.

TAT mathematics 101.

The Thais can't even scare op a Jordanian or Egyptian tour company senior executive to provide a supportive quote. We are left exclusively at the mercy of Thai TAT for truth and source facts and substantiation.

It's nice to read some fairy tales each day.

It's going to get increasingly difficult to market Thailand as a destination.

There was a time, when it would have been a piece of cake.

Those days a long gone.

Expect the same headlines in a couple of weeks after the successful roadshows to The Central African Republic and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
