Briggsy Posted December 4, 2014 Share Posted December 4, 2014 The Thai crossing is Tha Li in Loei, or alternatively the Uttaradit crossing, Phu Du. From Nam Heuang it is about 370 kms to Luang Prabang on the Highway 4, passing through Pak Lay and Xayabouri. Does anyone know the condition of this highway? marcusb Posted December 5, 2014 Share Posted December 5, 2014 The Phu Du border is not yet open for foreigners, just locals. Tha Li is a small pleasant crossing, crossed there many times, but not in the last two years. Apparently it's all paved now, and from Xayabouri. to LP is all new road with a new bridge crossing the mekong. 5 years ago it was pretty much all dirt and the bike crossed the mekong in a canoe, Laos is changing fast. 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
