Few parties like direct election of PM

Featured Replies

Personally I blame Ms. Yingluck for this mess. She behaved more like a President than like a Prime Minister.

With properly functioning PMs no one would question them being elected by parliament. One might even go so far as to suggest that a person from the largest party be appointed 'informateur' to inquire and report on cabinet feasibilities and be appointed 'formateur' (and implicitly PM) to get a cabinet /government together.

Of course this implies a working democratic / parliamentary system wink.png

Obama can show her a few things.

According to a story in the BKK Post this morning the NRC's political reform committee likes the idea and are submitting a proposal to the NRC that the cabinet, the PM and all 350 seats in parliament be elected doing away with list MP's.

Anything the PTP supports stinks to high heaven.

You left all the other parties out of your statement. There may be some that are worse than others but none are exempy from corruption.

This is a compete load of rubbish. Why is honesty so difficult for these people including the one who wrote the article?

Just like corruption. It is a culture.

They have been lied to for so long, the perception is that lying is normal. Corruption follows the same pattern.
