Wrong until stamp given on Tourist visa question

Recommended Posts

Got to kick myself for not looking at the stamp when I came in thru Nong Khai

Usually I check but this time didn't

I got a single entry Tourist Visa at Ventiane on Nov 12

Until stamp should have said about Jan 10 but it's stamped Dec 12

I was planning to extend it 30 days and leave for the US around Feb 5-7

Can I go to Chiang Mai Immigration and point out the error and get it corrected?

How would I go about asking for this?

Yes thanks a bunch UbonJoe

I went to Chiang Mai Immigration this morning and they did change it but it wasn't easy.

I had 3 underlings insist the stamp was right. I even speak decent thai

Finally it got kicked up to a guy with a desk and he caught it the first time.

With travel and standing there explaining it over and over again. 2 hours of my life lost.

Fortunately I was confident because of UJ.

A lot of people would have given up.

Do yourself a huge favor and ALWAYS check and double/triple check the stamp when you enter etc..

I arrived with a triple entry tourist visa 2.5 months ago. The immigration officer made a mistake and stamped Used on the visa and this was only the first entry. I pointed out that he had made a mistake and he put a line through the Used Stamp and the signed it. I have got to do a visa run in about 1.5 weeks. Do you think I will have any problems???

You should not have a problem since the officer corrected the error.

Plus they will be able look at your entries to see that you have not used all three entries.

It seems incorrect visa stamps are being talked about more often.

It also happened to a friend and the IO officer stamped the wrong year.

It was easily and quickly corrected but my friend was not happy about an extra trip to immigration.

I will definitely be careful in the future.
