Hagupit affects 1 million people

Manila, Philippines (Philippine Daily Inquirer) -- The Philippines' National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said on Monday that Typhoon Hagupit, known locally as "Ruby", has affected over 1 million people.

As of 6am Monday, there were a total of 230,569 families or 1,0666,141 people in shelters.

The NDRRMC has only confirmed two deaths - both were killed from hypothermia in Iloilo.

A total of 2,663 passengers, 94 vessels and 644 rolling cargoes and 3 motorbancas are still stranded due to bad weather.

Almost 200 international and domestic flights were cancelled on Monday due to bad weather.

Hagupit is expected to make its third landfall in Northern Mindoro on Monday night, the closest it would be to Metro Manila.
