Geminid Meteor Shower at the Stonehenge of Thailand

Geminid-Meteor-Shower-at-Mo-Hin-Khao-2.j

Venue: Mor Hin Khao, Phu Laen Kha National Park in Chaiyaphum

Geminid-Meteor-Shower-at-Mo-Hin-Khao-2Be mesmerised by one of the finest meteors showers, the Geminid, with perhaps 50 to 100 meteors per hour visible at the peak, at the Mor Hin Khao in Chaiyaphum.

Mor Hin Khao, which literally means “Hills of White Rocks”, is a plateau of large stone formation that has been compared to England’s Stonehenge: though they are the result of long-term geological shifts over millions of years rather than the work of men. The main feature is five massive sandstone formations, towering over 12 meters high, which give a resemblance to the Stonehenge.

Mor Hin Khao is one of the most popular locations in Thailand for a sighting experience in the moonlight, and stargazing of beautiful starlit sky, and the spectacular Geminid meteor shower that occurs every December.

In 2014, the best period for stargazing of the Geminid meteor shower above the spectacular Mor Hin Khao is during 14-15 December.

I'll be in Vientiane tomorrow so I hope to watch this above the spectacular Bor Pen Yang rooftop bar.

Is this visible anywhere else?

Yes, anywhere in the northern hemisphere.

In Thailand look a little bit North of East

Gemini rises about 20:30 and will be almost overhead at 01:00 in the morning.

But I'm a Pisces?

What time should I get up to see it?

Sorry, it's only for Geminis.

Back to bed.

Given the angle, it should be quite good viewing this year, from about 9:30 Pm but, the average rock is only about 2 Kg so they will not be spectacular fire trails and so will depend on cloud cover which tends to damp down the sightings a bit. Still, will be there unless the entertainment tax on rock is too high

I am Gemini and I DEMAND that it be moved the Mae Wong and only Geminians (is that a real word) be permitted to see it.

If I cannot have my way I shall go to the government and demand a subsidy for something.
