Police seek arrest warrant for suspect in grisly murder

BANGKOK: -- Samrong district police today sought an arrest warrant from the Ratchadapisek court for a man suspected of murdering a woman, cutting her up and and scattering her body parts in Samrong Nua district.

The police request for the arrest of Mr Am whose real name and family’s name are still unknown followed an hour long meeting today in Samut Prakan province which was chaired by Pol Lt-Gen Amnuay Nimmano, commissioner of 1st Region Provincial Police Bureau.

The body parts of the victim were found last week scattering in bushes along the old Rod Fai road in SamrongNua. Police managed to identifiy the victim as MrsSomyosManaskarn, 42.

Police said that bloodstain found in an apartment room in Bangna of the suspect matched with that of the victim from DNA test result. Also, CCTV in close vicinity of the apartment showed the suspect hold a foam box and push a cart toward the direction where body parts were later found.

Even though the identity of the suspect was not known, police found that the evidences available were sufficient enough to seek the court’s arrest warrant against the suspect.

So once again the murderer has a nice police warning to run as fast as he can. Since they don't know his name, probably applying for a passport as we speak.

Here we go with the illogical assumptions to show a faux and embarrassing superiority. Has it not been learned that not only doesn't the media get details of stories completely right but when you add to it translated stories their it almost ensures information is not going to be right.

Given other reports in Thai state the police went to his apartment where they found knives and blood and he is her ex-boyfriend and the police have released his photo in hopes of locating him, would seem that that he would have known he was a suspect. Interesting to point out his ID Photo is being used in the Thai news despite the lack of his name being used.

Bottom line, time after time it is shown early reports, especially those translated, have numerous inaccuracies and assumptions.

And what would you be saying if the police lied and the press were reporting they had no clues or leads about who did the crime despite their having an arrest warrant for somebody?

must be a sign of the times. i don't recall hearing of so many of these grisly murders in Thailand even 10 years ago. 20 years ago - rarely. now - all the time.

I think it's a combination of a few simple things, the "climate of fear" that pervades (especially USA) reporting nowadays, the fact that the "news" that is reported tends to be a lot more sensationalist nowadays cos that gets more viewers and hence more revenue (here is a case in point), and also the number of "news" outlets and social media channels have increased substantially also, so EVERYTHING gets reported now one way or another, so even if something wasn't picked up by a mainstream news outlet originally through lack of reporters (or interest) to cover it, it soon will do if it "trends" highly on social media.

Fox News and CNN particularly seem to do nothing but put fear into gullible people's minds, they don't "report" "facts" any more, they "speculate", and they make everything into a big spectacle of shock and outrage to suit their own (or rather their "owners") political agendas, with the "reporters" also saying anything controversial to become popular (Bill O'Reilly is a case in point), hence selling more papers, or increasing advertising on their various channels and making lots more money.

It's manipulation, pure and simple, by keeping people scared, businesses/government make more money. Try these as examples:

Looks like they have already arrested him.

I agree it's manipulation, but the climate of fear also allows our governments to keep enacting legislation that, bit by bit, erodes our freedoms and thus allows for increasing state control over everything we do. It's the long march to total state control over the people... ie: the police state.

Yay! Another one who "gets it".

And it's the same in EVERY country, but most noticeably so in more recent years in the USA. And here of course.

around 10 years ago there was a case of a Thai doctor murdering his wife and then cutting her up. This sort of thing has been going on for a long time. Is it more a reflection of the treatment of women in Thailand?

Suspect in suspected body parts case arrested
By Coconuts Bangkok

BANGKOK: -- Three days after a woman’s remains were found strewn throughout eastern metropolitan Bangkok, police arrested her ex-boyfriend and accused him of the ghastly crime.

A vendor identified by authorities only as “Am,” was arrested last night in the Dao Kanong area on suspicion of murdering Somyot Namatsakan, 42, and chopping her body into pieces he dumped at different locations.

An image from a CCTV camera led police to Am, and a search of his home turned up blood and discovery of blood stains linked to the deceased were sufficient grounds to issue an arrest warrant, and Am was taken into custody at about 8pm on Sunday

Thats exactly what it is; highlighting all the negativity in the press for people to waive more rights.

As usual we are getting half-truths from the media or is the intention aimed at discrediting the police?

Sorry my friends, no one really needs the media to discredit the police. They have been discrediting themselves just fine up to this point.
