webfact
Anti-Islam 'Pegida' march in German city of Dresden(BBC) About 10,000 people have taken part in a march against "Islamisation of the West" in the east German city of Dresden.A large counter-demonstration of more than 5,000 people was also held. No major incidents were reported.Dresden is the birthplace of a movement called "Patriotic Europeans Against the Islamisation of the West" (Pegida), which staged a big rally a week ago.Chancellor Angela Merkel warned Germans not to be exploited by extremists."There's freedom of assembly in Germany, but there's no place for incitement and lies about people who come to us from other countries,'' Mrs Merkel said in Berlin."Everyone [who attends] needs to be careful that they are not taken advantage of by the people who organise such events."In Monday's march, protesters chanted Wir sind das volk (we are the people) - a rallying cry used in the city in the weeks before the fall of the Berlin Wall 25 years ago.Full story: http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-30478321-- BBC 2014-12-

lee b
Islam and its people cause trouble and demonstrate all over the world. Are they allowed to do it? Maybe not, but they still do, so what is the problem of this? I dont see one. Again to me the problem is pushed away from them that cause it, and others who wish to speak there mind are not allowed to?? Rubbish time for change !

Little chance of that. The organizers have instructed the participants (as far as that is possible) to watch the guys around them and report anyone displaying extremist signs or behaviour to the police. The PEGIDA organizers obviously have no chance of banning neo-nazis from entering their demonstation, so they have to sort out troublemakers this way, i.e. after the fact. While it is quite obvious that some far-right will join the fray as the things PEGIDA demonstrate for are some sort of "minimum consensus", PEGIDA are actually NOT against foreigners and Germany offering fugitives shelter as such. So IF you were to see news coverage of someone giving a Hitler's salute that would not be representative of the movement.

Popular Post Saradoc1972
(BBC) About 10,000 people have taken part in a march against "Islamisation of the West" in the east German city of Dresden. Little correction here and some background. Pegida have been demonstrating un Dresden every Monday afternoon for 8 weeks now, their numbers swelling from a couple of hundred to 15.000 (that is the real number for yesterday) over time. On Dec. 1st they had 6.000 on the road and were blocked by 1500 counter-protesters, police failing to to clear the latter off the street. Maybe Pegida should take them to court. The next week, there were 10.000 marching with 9.000 counter-protesters, some leading politicians of the Greens party and cabinet members among them. I sometimes wonder what business they have taking their views to the streets. Yesterday, there were 15.000 marching and some 4.500 counter-protesters. The whole thing really got everyone's attention and is making news everyday, as most established political parties (apart from the anti-Euro AFD) are calling Pegida racist, facist, populist, despicable, and whatnot. And there is not one article failing to point out this Bachmann fellow has a criminal past. Like that keeps him from thinking or having his own take on Islam and Germany's asylum policy. But apparently that's a good starting point to denigrate a movement most politicians see as threatening. Meaning them, their party, and the next election. Pegida makes every effort not to be racist, bigot, or anti-immigration. They want tougher immigration rules, faster processing for asylum-seekers, deportation of criminal foreigners and asylum-seekers, and a stop to islamization (as in not having Christmas markets renamed to winter markets, and a ban on headscarves in schools). This is completely disregarded when the usual suspects start denigrating them as some form of nazis when talking to the press, they are saying anything about how immigration and asylum is being handled: pop goes the weasel, they must populists and a wee bit stupid.

Popular Post AlQaholic
Firstly! I am not a racist. I am against all forms of organized religions, from American Scam artists, to the Catholic church and its nincompoop pope, and the one religion I am most against is the Islamic faith. Reason for this is the integration of secular and religious values in the Islamic model of rule, this is a direct and unholy violation of the Human rights of people. It does not matter if the particular flavor of the Islamic faith happens to be moderate, neutral or extremist, the concept is completely wrong. To witness the spread of this disgusting religion into Europe and other formerly civilized countries is heartbreaking and should be repelled by any means possible. Moderate Islam clerics may argue that it is all peaceful and so forth, it does not matter, the religion as such is wrong from beginning to end and should be banned in every country in Europe. In the shear numbers of offspring alone will the Islamic faith overrun Europe as the late Gaddafi once said, number of Muslims born is far overshadowing the number of "normal" people. History tells us, any faith or political persuasion will be used by the powerful few to gain riches and control the ignorant masses. Popular Post cup-O-coffee
"Everyone [who attends] needs to be careful that they are not taken advantage of by the people who organise such events." I wonder if she would dare say this if it were a pro Islamist march? And therein lies the rub. I read what she says as a sign. I also am reading what the protesters are protesting as a sign. I'd like to know more of what they are protesting, though. I do understand that there are a lot of knee-jerk reactions to protests of this sort, and dismiss them as an obstruction to much deeper truths that are only beginning to rear their heads in the boiling water. I would speculate that this OP broaches the subject of multiculturalism, and the negative kickbacks it will inevitably generate in the near future. I also understand that the vast majority of multiculturalism seems to be taking places in predominately white countries. Many non-white countries have the privilege of retaining their racial and cultural identities, even to the point of violations of human rights, ...but when it comes to the predominately white countries, there seems to be strict requirements for white people in those countries to be tolerant and to hoe the row for the millions and millions of non-white immigrants pouring in (intentionally and by design?) to their homelands and turning their countries into crime ridden slums which destroy the social and economic balance. It's OK for Asia to be Asian. It's OK for Israel to be Israel, etc.etc., but predominately white countries are being deluged and their own identities and cultures are being threatened by various means and behaviors. I know that may sound racist or anti-Semitic. Call it what you want. If you've got the time, I've got the facts, so hold off on being reverse-racist or hating me. After all, I didn't organize the protests, or even have any responsibility for any of the anger white people around the world are beginning to feel and share between themselves. I almost feel angry at myself for feeling a twinge of guilt for saying this, because I know it is a truth that needs to be addressed in a fair and equitable manner and with equal consideration. A good read on why, perhaps, this protest is occurring may be here: Understanding the European-wide assault on multiculturalism"In Germany, where there will be elections in seven of the country’s sixteen states in 2011, Chancellor Angela Merkel, who had previously described Sarrazin’s book as ‘not helpful’, set the parameters for discussion. She received a standing ovation from the youth wing of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) when she declared in a speech in Potsdam on 16 October 2010 that the multicultural society had ‘utterly failed’, that the ‘multikulti’ concept – where people would ‘live side-by-side’ happily – did not work, and that immigrants needed to do more to integrate – including learning German." At the end of the day, I feel this OP touches on the fact that white people around the world are waking up and realizing that they are getting a raw deal and being shown the back door, unless they do something soon. Just my take on the situation, ...and I do not feel I am far off the topic that fuels this OP.
