The Board of Investment endorses a project to produce oil from plastic waste

The Board of Investment (BoI) endorses a project to produce oil from plastic garbage to support the use of alternative fuel.

BoI deputy secretary-general Hiranya Sujinai (หิรัญญา สุจินัย) said Duwai Asia Co. Ltd. will invest 14 million baht in processing 19.2 tons of plastic waste a day into oil and liquefied petroleum gas. The company should be able to produce about 2.6 million litre of the fuel a year for sale to oil refineries, Mrs. Hiranya said.

She said BoI has so far approved 22 projects involving the production of alcohol or fuel from farm produce and garbage which have a combined investment of 7.3 billion baht.

Nine other projects on ethanol, bio-gas and bio-diesel production are awaiting approval, Mrs. Hiranya said.
