ATF
Seems to be a setup to me. Sorry about the woman trying to do her job, The Perps are probably on the Cop's known criminals list but they are too afraid to tackle them.

minikev
It looks like a chance mugging by 2 animals. Unfortunately for the woman there is no dangling carrot for a follow up.
timmyp
Total sympathy to her, and I hope she has success with the cops actually doing something about the case (perhaps the story in the newspaper will at least get them to pretend like they're doing something?). As someone who grew up in the city, sitting alone distracted at night in area where there aren't other people is pretty much an invitation to a mugging. There may have been a time when doing that in Pattaya was perfectly safe, but those times have changed. Not to blame the victim here, but sometimes I wanna ask, "What were you thinking??" petercool
Ummmm ..... unsolved crimes are a high percentage of total in any country and that does not indicate that police did nothing about them.

alocacoc
The local Police must be completely overwhelmed. The criminal rate is exploding.

glasswort
Easy answer. Nothing in it for them as they would rather hassle scooter riding expats. I was stopped three times on Thursday and each time, having produced my Thai license I was allowed to continue on my way. The license could have been out of date but it was not examined. Ummmm...if you bother to read the link you'll see that so far the police have not started an investigation into the incident, there is a difference between unsolved crimes and allegedly taking no action. "The incident was caught on security cameras and the footage was handed to Pattaya Police who have, as yet, not opened an investigation into the assault and robbery." WhamBam
Someone needs to dole out some swift kicks to the ass's of the police if no investigation has been opened. Take some of those officers off the vehicle stops and get them to do some proper police work.
monkeycountry
Well, if all criminals are either let out on bail or given a 500 baht fine then things are bound to go wrong

lvr181
Take some of those officers off the vehicle stops and get them to do some proper police work. Unfortunately, some of those officers may be only able to cope with vehicle stops? Perhaps better training is needed?
