December 20, 201411 yr Been looking for another way to send money from Australia to Thailand, since First Money Transfer closed down. Was in a hurry last week so I used the NAB but the exchange rate was not good and they charge quite a bit for doing the transfer. I stumbled across WorldRemit and signed up with them. The exchange rate they offered was about halfway between the NAB and changing money at SuperRich and their transfer fee was much lower than the bank, only $5. Anyone else used WorldRemit ? Would like to hear from anyone who has used them before I send any large amounts of money. We are building a house and I will be sending about 100,000 baht at a time.
December 22, 201411 yr Hi Mike, For what it's worth, I work here at WorldRemit (saw your post pop up on some software we use to keep an eye out for mentions of our brand). We've been running since 2010, our founder (Ismail Ahmed) formerly worked at the World Bank countering money laundering and we are fully regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority here in the UK. Here is some recent coverage in the British media: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-30192220 http://www.wired.co.uk/news/archive/2014-11/07/startup-of-the-week-worldremit If you have any questions feel free to get in touch with us via email or phone on the details here: https://www.worldremit.com/en/contact-us Appreciate a new member on a forum is unlikely to be the feedback you were looking for, but thought i'd give you a start. Hopefully there are some customers on here who can second this! Regards, Andy. Edited December 22, 201411 yr by AndyKidd
December 23, 201411 yr Author Hi Andy, I sent a small amount of money to my wife in Thailand on Saturday and she received it today, Tuesday. It was a test run and it went well. The banks charge me $22 per transaction and the exchange rate is never good. Like I said in op I used to use First Money Transfer because they were much better to use than the banks but FMT closed down and I have been looking for a similar service. Looks like I have found what I wanted. Mick
