USB 2.0 to HDMI 1080p adapter wanted

Featured Replies

I'm a non-techie, but wondered if anyone can advise me where I can buy a USB 2.0 to HDMI 1080p adapter in Phuket? I want to stream from my laptop (which has no HDMI port) to my Samsung LCD TV (which has HDMI but no VGA). Maybe something like this?

I've no idea how much these things are either, so would appreciate your input. Thanks.

i will look up the link

I don't suppose your laptop has a DVI output?

If it's only got VGA, it has be to very old...

Thanks for the info gerry123. I was rather hoping to just go into a shop and buy one, but your link is useful.

IMHO, I only have VGA and USB 2.0 on my laptop, which may be considered old because I've had it since March 2012. I actually have no idea what a DVI output is. I guess it's similar to HDMI which I don't have on the laptop?

There are plenty of older laptops which only came with a DVI port and no HDMI:

And the adapter from DVI to HDMI is a 200 Baht thing, so if he has one of these, it's a cheaper/better solution.

If he's rocking a laptop that only has VGA out, he's got a very nostalgic piece of kit:

Look at the photos I posted ^

If you have a port that looks like that top one, you're in luck - DVI to HDMI is a very simple, cheap and readily available adaptor.

Hi IMHO, thanks for the pics. I definitely don't have a DVI.

Gerry123, I see on your link that it comes with a mini CD. My laptop only has the standard size, so do you have any advice as to how I would load the software for it? Your advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Gregory, can you give me an idea of where to find them in Phuket?

advice.co.th has an outlet in Phuket, if they do not have what you want in-store, can order and receive within 48hr. AA
