24-12-2557-14-18-49-wpcf_728x410.jpg

NARATHIWAT: -- Flood situation in Narathiwat has eased today as water level is steadily going down especially in the Su-ngai Kolok river basin.

Floodwater in Tambons Pron, Na Nark and Kosit of Tak Bai district which was most critical and measured at 2.29 metre at its peak has leveled off by more than six centimeters so far, said officials, adding that the improvement of the situation was attributable to opening of the floodgate in Tambon Koh Sathorn, Tak Bai district, by the irrigation office to allow excess water to flow into the sea from Tak Bai and Su-ngai Kolok districts.

Initial survey of damages caused by flooding by provincial officials shows that more than 5,200 households in eight communities located along the Su-ngai Kolok river and more than 4,500 houses holds in elsewhere were affected and in need of help.

PM gives his New Year blessing to Thai people

BANGKOK, 24 December 2014 (NNT) - The Prime Minister has given his New Year blessing to the Thai people, wishing them peace and happiness. As Prime Minister and head of the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) General Prayuth Chan-Ocha delivered a speech in order to wish the people of Thailand a happy new year, while urging all to contribute to national and social stability.

He added that the interim government has one more year left in office and has therefore urged the people not to incite conflict while the government carries out its work. Regarding aid to farmers, especially those producing para-rubber, the government is closely monitoring the situation in order to initiate appropriate solutions in the best way possible.
