British embassy-bangkok

Featured Replies

Anyone see the latest  Documentary on BBC 1 last night

(OK I know not all have..)

Under the heading Real Lives the subject was...

Brits in Bankok.

One of those " whats the Brits like abroad" Docs. which followed the work of the Embassy staff in Bangers. As well as the usual stream of holidaymakers with easy to sort out problems such as a lost passports (1 hour -not bad) the staff had to deal with more serious issues like drug smuggling, thai brides and Paedophile activities.

Angela (the main character) made the wonderful comment that so many of our  intelligent nationals come on Holiday to LOS and leave their brains behind. The issue of Visas was well thrashed out with one poor old sod who overstayed 18 months and is still in detention because his family wont help.

Angela -bless her spends a lot of time visiting prisioners-Jullian G etc.and it aint very nice. One guy was quite happy because half of his 12 years is over and he will be going home in less than 6 (years)-RA-Wang...

Final bit was the old boy (70plus) from UK with his new 1 day Thai bride and they got the Visa- he was great.Back at home he wished he had done it 40 years earlier and had avoided 2 previous English wives.....Well done B.E....life as they say can be sweet.

:o
