BANGKOK: -- Three more suspects will be facing arrests for their alleged role in the embezzling of Bt1.6 billion from King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Lat Krabang (KMITL) bank accounts.

Police are seeking arrest warrants for Poonsak Boonsawat, Kitisak Mattujad and Jariwat Sahaporn-udomkarn.

Some Bt85 million from a KMITL account was allegedly transferred to an account in Poonsak's name, after which he bought a luxury house worth Bt24 million, in cash.

Poonsak, a 26-year-old graduate student, claimed he was not aware of the embezzlement and insisted he opened this account and made cash transfers through it at the request of friends.

Money from his account went to Kitisak and Jariwat, who have so far failed to respond to police summons.

Poonsak, who has spoken to police several times, claimed yesterday that he bought the house from winnings from football bets.

"At this point, we are trying to determine whether the Bt24 million he used to buy the house is related to the money that was diverted from the KMITL bank account," the Crime Suppression Division's deputy chief Colonel Nos Svettalekha said yesterday.

Police have already apprehended the chief of KMITL's finance division Ampon Noisamrit, 56, and former manager of Bank of Ayudhya's Big C Srinakarin branch Songklod Sriprasong, 40.

Ampon, however, is in hospital getting treatment for diabetes.

"We are considering whether she should be transferred to the Police General Hospital. Or we may seek court permission to take her into detention and let her receive further treatment from prison," Nos said.

Meanwhile, National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) chairman Panthep Klanarongran revealed yesterday that NACC officials had been assigned to gather information on the case.

"They should complete their task next month. After that, we will set up a fact-finding committee," he said.

'Poonsak, who has spoken to police several times, claimed yesterday that he bought the house from winnings from football bets.'

"Poonsak, a 26-year-old graduate student, claimed he was not aware of the embezzlement and insisted he opened this account and made cash transfers through it at the request of friends."

Smart enough to figure out how to make 24 million on football bets but not smart enough to see embezzlement at the place he worked. I thing he speak with forked tongue!

Only yesterday this suspect said :

Graduate student Poonsak Boonsawat, 26, whose name was on the account in question and on the cashier cheques used for withdrawals, told Crime Suppression Division (CSD) Superintendent 1 Pol Colonel Jirapop Phuridet that he was asked by a friend in October to open the account, which received Bt85 million.

He said he wasn't suspicious when the friend also asked him to wire money to other accounts on three occasions, until Bt24 million was left.

He denied any knowledge of embezzlement.

Now he says the 24 million he used to buy a house came from gambling winnings.

Seems a bit of a coincidence that 24 million was left in the accounts the same sum as the cost of the house.

It would appear that whatever graduate course he took didn't include teaching him the ability to lie convincingly.

one day, you get up, check your bankaccount and see

80+ million baht

nigerian scam dream came alive :)

Meanwhile, National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) chairman Panthep Klanarongran revealed yesterday that NACC officials had been assigned to gather information on the case.

A new investigation technique! Step 1: Have officials gather information. Step 2: Set up a fact-finding committee.

The police should at least arrest him for admitting gambling illegally and freeze his bank account / assets accordingly, lol..... never going to happen though in LOS...

"Poonsak, a 26-year-old graduate student," and a specially idiot. What was his expectation? Money to his name ! Congratulation to your new home Poonsak.

24 million baht? Where the <deleted> is the rest of the 1.6 billion?!!!!
