December 29, 201411 yr Popular Post Based on another thread, I got interested in researching just how many bikes are sold in Thailand. Surprisingly difficult to find, so I looked up registrations. Much easier to find, it was surprising in a couple of ways. First, in the grand scheme of things Kawasaki doesn't sell many bikes, only 2.13% off all registered. However they come roaring back in the bigger than 151cc range with a full 25.53% of the market. Yamaha sells a crazy amount of Finos (188,759 bikes registered in the 100-125cc range). There were almost as many Keeway bikes registered in the >151cc range as Ducatis unfortunate name aside. The Chinese bikes (excluding Sym) make up 1.56% of the bikes registered. However Ryuka (those cheap and cheery Honda Cub knock offs) account for 52.62% of those Chinese sales. I've attached the spreadsheet below with some modifications. I translated the Thai language and added 2 columns. First one being % that each manufacturer had of total registered bikes and second on for bikes >151cc. Apologies if it's not pretty, it was imported by OSX and then exported. Thai motorcycle sales 2557.xls

December 29, 201411 yr So Dave what about those Indian and Victory motorcycles that have been registered? They weren't even grouped together under Polaris....which wasn't there!
December 29, 201411 yr Author So Dave what about those Indian and Victory motorcycles that have been registered? They weren't even grouped together under Polaris....which wasn't there! Indian and Victory same-same Harley! And yes I can say that because apparently Ducati had 2 100cc or below bikes registered.... Also sad that EBR isn't being sold in the Kingdom.
December 30, 201411 yr always fun to look at the stats; well, for guys like Dave and me anyway! i have been hoping that over the last couple of years that they would add more columns for bigger cc bikes. A few more interesting stats. Total registration for new bikes each year: 2554 (2012) 2,134,377 2555 (2012) 2,257,376 2556 (2013) 2,121,977 2557 (2014) 1,689,502 (still 2 days left so maybe will sell a few hundred thou!) Total vehicles registered: 2542 (1999) 20.1 million 2556 (2013) 34.6 million (of which 19.8 million are bikes) Edited December 30, 201411 yr by taichiplanet

December 30, 201411 yr They don't shift many Suzukis. Only 702 over 150 cc. That includes the V-Strom, Gladius, GSX, Hayabusa, even the Van Van. And only 1102 units for the 126 to 150 cc range. That is really surprising considering you have the Raider in that category.

December 30, 201411 yr Thanks Dave - interesting figures .... only 286 for Triumph (287 if we include the 100cc bike - new Tiger Cub Light?) - lower than I expected as I've seen a few Bonnies in Bangkok. Will be interesting to see if the proce drop helps bring the figures up to Ducati levels.
