January 3, 201511 yr I have 59 hours of flight time but haven't flown in years since I was in the United States, I was wondering if anyone here has a private pilots license here in Issan and if there are any flight schools to continue my training..I have only soloed and would like to get my full license, Im sure however it is even more expensive here than back home..
January 3, 201511 yr Popular Post Dunno. seems the only flight training available to farangs is off high rise buildings or balconies! Sorry, this is Thai Visa, hope you get a real useful reply soon.
January 3, 201511 yr I can't pin any training schools down for Isaan. Perhaps tell us the closest large city near you and also if practical go to the nearest airport and ask around. Chiang Mai, Pattaya (Sri Racha) and other southern areas have training centers/flight schools but obviously a bit out of the way. Also maybe try to contact this site and see if they may have some ideas. http://www.thaiflyingclub.com/ Price is up a bit from the last time I checked, 5500 Baht/hour solo (wet) Cessna 150.

January 3, 201511 yr Nakhon Phanom International Aviation College http://www.bestaviation.net/school/international-aviation-college/ That link has tags. If you click on the tag "Flight Schools in Asia" you will be telephoning for a month.
January 3, 201511 yr Nakhon Phanom International Aviation College http://www.bestaviation.net/school/international-aviation-college/ I didn't post that as there was some rather bad press regarding it. Don't know if it has improved since than. An old Thaivisa topic at its inception. http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/163949-international-aviation-college-nakhon-phanom-university/ Perhaps worth a look though. This is the direct link to their website - http://iac.npu.ac.th/home/
January 3, 201511 yr Where are you based OP? If in Sakon Nakhon or Udon Thani send me a PM. I have a Cessna 172s but you can only train. Farangs are not permitted to make a license in Thailand.
January 3, 201511 yr Farangs are not permitted to make a license in Thailand. Of course they can. Don't know where you got that misinformation, perhaps old information. http://www.sravia.co.th/main.php?action=faq http://www.chiangmaiflyingclub.com/information/ http://www.thaiflyingclub.com/
January 3, 201511 yr There is a great flying school on Phuket at the Pa Klok Airfield. They have a Piper, Gyrocopters, paragliders and other aircraft. As far as I know, anybody can do a PPL on Thailand, so long as the required ground tests and flying practical tests are passed by the Thailand DCA. I am presently learning to fly. Just load up the startpage search engine and search Phuket Airpark. Come down here and stay for a holiday. Edited January 3, 201511 yr by Inepto Cracy

I was interested in getting my daughter started but was told she would need to go to BKK. May have changed since then, although info on the website was written in 2009.

Now that you mention it I believe I heard that also as I was going to convert my US license to Thai but decided the expense and time was not feasible for me. Perhaps it changed to Nok aviation?

January 4, 201511 yr Smurkster.. If you have the patience to sort through this old thread, you will find lots of insight into aviation in Thailand. Yes, it is more expensive than the west, you have a few hundred more hoops to jump through, but it can be done if you make the right connections. http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/165584-aviation-in-thailand/
January 4, 201511 yr Mike Peare is the guy to talk to. He has an excellent website which explains all you need to know about private flying in Thailand. Usually found at Nok Airfield in Chiang Mai. See http://www.mpaviation.com/site.htm Edited January 4, 201511 yr by Jay Sata
