House is awash with O-Net crammers!. English diabolical and mostly wrong.Maths OK, if easy, lot of irrelevant stuff about Thai provinces, finding your way to lions in a zoo etc.

Bilingual kids pretty much confused.

But set us thinking....seems little to do with knowing anything but a lot to do with verbal reasoning/deduction/and skill with multiple choice

Is there a translation into English of the O-net 'curriculum'/'syllabus? As it looks like if you have a frame of reference as to what they are on about you can do it pretty much?! Can PM me!

I wish they would let some native teacher write these tests! TBH, I'm often mystified, stymied, at a loss.

After having taught a special class one book with specific lessons, my HoD junked my relevant exam and pulled something off the internet. Multiple choice questions about stuff like the Jurassic Parc movie. No one did well in this test! And it was n excellent class with the exception of one kid who handed in blank papers. But hey, if your parents pay enough, anyone can be in special program!

These tests have little if any connection to the curricula. And as you said, it's more about some strange type of reasoning than language ability. facepalm.gif

Then there are many who cannot read English! No, some are okay students. Had a nice M2 class in Isaan. They were there on time and attentive. But few could read. My HoD wouldn't let me set up a program to address this issue. I would have donated the time, but wanted an assistant. ** TBH, I don't get some Thai schools' understanding of their role in society.
