Chinese spacecraft to return to moon's orbit
By Digital Content

BEIJING, Jan 6 (Xinhua) -- The service module of China's unmanned lunar orbiter is scheduled to return to the moon's orbit in mid-January for more tests to prepare for the country's next lunar probe mission, Chang'e-5.

On Sunday, the service module left the Earth-Moon second Lagrange Point (L2) after circling the point while performing additional tests, the State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense (SASTIND) said Monday.

A lunar orbiter is a spacecraft that orbits the moon, and its service module contains support systems used for spacecraft operations.

"It was the first time for a Chinese spacecraft to reach the L2 point, and the service module completed three circles around the point, expanding probe missions," said Zhao Wenbo, vice director of SASTIND's lunar probe and space project center.

As of Monday, the service module was 445,000 kilometers away from Earth and 57,000 km from the moon. All experiments are operating smoothly.

The service module was separated from the test lunar orbiter's return capsule on Nov. 1, and the return capsule returned to Earth on Nov. 1 after circling the moon during its eight-day mission.

China's lunar orbiter program was the world's first mission to the moon and back in some 40 years, making China the third nation to complete a return mission to the moon after the Soviet Union and the United States. (Xinhua)

Meanwhile American, Russian, Brits and French are well along the path to Mars and more... Stupid faceslapping Chinese just piss me off!

NASA's new launch vehicle will take humans to The Moon before they go to Mars. They have already issued an initial timetable.

Love the Chinese wasting money on manned space flight. Wish USA would quit spending tax payer money on man in space folly. Hubble and that sort ok, men in space is right next to ridiculous with no worth while payoff.

Eventually humans will need to try another neighbourhood.

It's leaking out slowly but the Chinese built an identical replica studio to the one used by NASA to fake the landings back then and are using it to pretend to have their own space program too. biggrin.png

The 12 US astronauts since 46 years ago found evidence of possible life on the moon but the Chinese taikonauts will find no signs of intelligent life there as there are absolutely no McDonalds, no guns, no instant dumplings or quick noodle soups.

One ameba would be a good sign however....sort of a chance to start again.

Sending human's back to the moon and even to mars is ridiculous, total waste of resources when machines can easily do whatever needs to be done there.

Nasa has its new Orion Space Vehicle to Mars and its launch rocket the Delta IV which December 5th made its final practice blastoff and recovery.

The Delta IV launch rocket is six stories higher and several times more powerful than the Saturn V 32-storey launch rocket of the previous moon flight program of 1969-75.

China's moon capsule and launch rocket are baby machines by comparison. People who don't like this will just have to swallow hard because this is integral to who we are and what we do, the Nasa Human Space Flight Program.

Here's a short video of the blastoff to include a top-down view from the outboard camera.

I am pretty sure the moon landings were fake. Lots of evidence to back up that

point of view that I will not go into right now . If the Chinese probe starts taking detailed

pictures of American lunar landing sites that in some likelihood do not exist, there will

be a serious loss of face for America to say the least. I predicted this outcome ten

years ago, will be curious to see if it comes true... Why else would China go to the

moon ? They can barely feed their own people....

I think you have the Saturn V and Delta IV comparisons wrong.

Maybe you meant the SLS instead of Delta IV?

Then why would India wanna go to Mars? They are even worse economically.

BBC did a series on the growth of China. A new town was being built. When the reporter mentioned the previous occupants of the land, the response from the CP official. "They're just peasants, you can do what you like with peasants."
