ASEAN - poster / info sheets, in English

Featured Replies

My director has decided that we should teach our students something about ASEAN, not a bad idea.

I searched with google for posters, in English, suitable for primary aged students, but found little.

Does anyone know of any posters discussing ASEAN, say one for each country, that are available online?

Thanks for any assistance.

There is lots of stuff available at the government education shops. The director should know!

Or make your own using the basic information from Wikipedia for each country plus a picture of the country flag

I've done quite a few ASEAN camps, ASEAN preparation seminars for Thai school directors and taught primary students about the ASEAN community.

I also trained quite a few students for an ASEAN quiz, which seems to be very important for most schools to send students to such competitions.

What age-group do you teach?

However, you should focus on the capital cities, greetings, different foods, customs, which countries border Thailand, the countries size, population, clothes, etc....

As already mentioned, get the flags, population and some important information from Wikipedia and create some worksheets. You could also make a booklet with worksheets, which might take some time, but seems to be very efficient.

You'll find some okay ASEAN posters at several book stores, where all the teachers buy their stuff.

Your director might be happy when the kids can sing the ASEAN anthem in English. Please check on youtube, there's some good stuff if you have access to a projector.

Tons of materials at teacher supply stores. Not so much online that doesn't have a pay status to download. Sounds like the Director wants you to spend some of your funds.

Everything is available online, without paying one baht. You only have to have Google as your friend. Just saying.-thumbsup.gif

And Wikipedia, you'll have to spend a few hours and have all information you'll need:

Better yet have your students do the work and actually let them teach the class.

Thanks for the at least partly useful info. If I read as I was being lazy, I was not motivated by laziness, but efficiency. Why rebuild the wheel?

There is lots of Thai info, but the kicker is, as I mentioned in my original post, my big boss wants the posters in English. She is big on the Angrit (not a bad thing).

The suggestions about the anthem is good, will give it a shot.

Thanks Zeichen — I have been thinking about just that.

Why rebuild the wheel? All you need to do is to copy all the images you want in English on a memory drive, then go to a shop where they make posters for schools, which is really not expensive.

Then you could make your students to "researchers" and let them create boards with relevant information for all the ten member countries.
