Underwater wedding in Trang to feature many activities this year

TRANG, 16 January 2015 (NNT)- The Trang Chamber of Commerce has said its underwater wedding will feature many activities for couples this year, hoping it will help boost tourism in the province.

According to the Chamber, the underwater wedding will begin from February 12th-14th, 2015. 50 couples, both Thai and foreigners, will be greeted with a traditional drum performance and a Thai dance upon arriving at Trang Airport.

Those 50 couples are to take part in the parade taking them around the city. At night, when the traditional Trang wedding is scheduled to be held, they will be asked to have sticky rice, which has been a common practice of Trang residents since the ancient time.

The engagement ceremony will be organized on Kradan Island. For couples that prefer not to tie the knot under the sea, they can snorkel around Morakot Cave, one of the many renowned attractions in Thailand.

Each couple will be asked to plant a rosewood tree as a symbol of their love at Peninsular Botanical Garden, where over 1,000 of the rosewood trees have been grown since the underwater wedding was first held.

Trang is a beautiful place. Big mountains, beautiful island and beaches and really friendly locals. Hardly any tourists there. Just a little over an hour from Malaysia.

By airplane, just to clarify.
