ASIC Posted March 21, 2004 Share Posted March 21, 2004 I guess we all know that UBC is the only satellite/cable company left in Thailand. However, what exactly do they have a license to do? License to up-link movies to satellite? License do distribute? License to what? As far as I know, it's not illegal to set up your own dish and view the free programs. Would it be legal to set up a dish, and decoder with smart-card from a foreign satellite company? What if a large foreign satellite company decided to sell decoders and smart-cards to their own network (HBO, sky-sport, etc.) in Thailand? Would that be illegal? and why/why not?
