THE NATION: -- The antigraft agency Thursday urged the National Legislative Assembly (NLA) members to impeach former premier Yingluck Shinawatra in order to "make history together" by setting high ethical and moral standards for future leaders to follow.

"By punishing highranking public officials, you will set standards for future leaders and remind them of the necessity to possess higher moral and ethical principles than ordinary people," said Wicha Mahakun, who represented the National AntiCorruption Commission.

The NACC member ended his closing statement before the NLA by saying, "I would like to urge NLA members, let us make history together."

Wicha also portrayed the significance of the case in a historical context, as he said it would represent the most visible indictment of policyfraud since the country began cracking down on corruption.

What a legal mess and I tell you what, if any politicians have any brains they will rapidly go and find another vocation in life, because there is little chance they will be able to enact any legislation of any sort that will pass this so called moral and ethical standard.

Parliament will in the future descend into a morass of cases accusing each other of wrong doing and policy failure. They really might as well arrest every single current politician who voted in support of any policy ever.

I think you have a fixation with ASSK. In no way can Yingluck be compared to Suu Kyi. I think most posters can understand why.

Attack dogs like Tarit and Charlem just needed to be paid extra on the side, although one had to be told to cut back on the ear medicine.

Nonsense - and you know it.

All the attempts at turning this into a political purge and attempts to blur the details you mention - was she negligent - damned right she was. Was that due to stupidity, just doing what she was told, turning a blind eye or was she fully aware and involved has yet to be determined.

The reality was Thaksin, a non elected criminal fugitive controlled the PTP government, selected it's ministers and decided all actions.

No Western country would have allowed that to happen, and certainly the UK have a Morals and Ethics committee to ensure standards are observed and maintained.

The defamation laws, ability of the rich to avoid legal consequences for any actions, laws written deliberately full of loopholes and virtually no professional enforcement are areas that need addressing before things will really improve.

Impeachment doesn't lead to imprisonment but the criminal charges that are pending would!!
