Thai police rule out murder for Briton found dead on Koh Tao

That is because murders do not happen on Dark Tao. The real question is, when was that last time the RTP Corporation ruled a death as a murder on Tao?

I should have specified, when a foreigner is murdered. Care to share some facts?

Forgotten the two Brits already have you?

Does anybody think this is a bit odd

British daily The Telegraph said Christina's mother Margaret had posted on her daughter's Facebook page saying she had died of "natural causes" . The Facebook page appeared to be inaccessible Friday - the actual post read - We have lost our beautiful daughter Chrissie in Thailand of natural causes.

If you have just found out your 23 year old daughter has died, would you really want to post on her FB that it was natural causes? that would be the last thing I would be thinking of doing, especially before any kind of autopsy, why did the Mum need to clarify that? perhaps she was advised to put it? perhaps it was not her? my best friend died of cancer and at no point did I feel like writing - 'I have just lost my best friend to cancer', struck me as rather odd as did this bit of reporting on Friday -

The autopsy is not likely to be carried out before Sunday as officials have to wait for a ferry to the mainland.

"There is no ferry today so we will send her body on Saturday night to arrive on the mainland Sunday morning," Lieutenant Colonel Napa said.

Do they not use regular ferries then?

Also this was on her FB page

Arta Ad R.I.P little Girl i was at the samd time at this Hotel and i can forgett how the Police took you out of the room

I feel so sad about you and I am so angry about the owner from the Hotel because they Talk bullshit!!!

After 15 min they clean the room and gives that to another Tourist ( i am sorry for my bad english) but i think the World should know that !!!!

I feel so sorry for the Family

Now you see when we hear stories like this. And we know the history of that bar. And the suspicion around that bar owner.

We wonder !!! And it is said that her body has been held at the Temple with no refrigeration. The same temple that nomsod is a monk at.

Like Hannah we will never know the truth of this.

I do wish people would stop blaming the victim.

Having no idea what medicines were in the room and not having done an autopsy, we can say for certain that it was not murder.

Do they literally beat the imagination out of people in Thai schools, or do they wait til police academy to do that?

The quote from the policeman in the OP says they do not know the cause of death. The certain it is not murder part is from the author of the OP.

From the very first line of the OP-SURAT THANI — A senior police officer has insisted that the 23-year-old British tourist who died on the southern island of Koh Tao this week was not murdered.

Body of British woman sent to hospital for autopsy
By Digital Content

SURAT THANI, Jan 24 -- The body of a British woman who was found dead in a bungalow room at a resort in southern Thailand earlier this week was transported to a police hospital in the capital for an autopsy before dawn on Saturday, police said.

They said the body of 23-year-old Christina Annesley was sent to Police General Hospital’s Institute of Forensic Medicine in Bangkok for an autopsy to find out the actual cause of her death.

Ms Annesley was found dead in her bungalow room on Ko Tao, a small island in the Gulf of Thailand off the coastal province of Surat Thani, on January 20.

Police have said earlier that there was no signs of a struggle in her room and her body bore no wounds.

It is expected that her body would reach the hospital at about 2pm.

The incident comes in the wake of two young British tourists who were found dead on Ko Tao in mid-September last year.

David Miller, 24, and Hannah Witheridge, 23, were found brutally murdered on one beach of the island while police said the woman was also raped.

Police later arrested two Myanmar nationals and charged them with the murder of Mr Miller and the rape and murder of Ms Witheridge. (MCOT online news)

Well if she was fast asleep and a pillow was gently put over her face. Then there would be no bruises would there.

The hospital she has gone to of course is the famous police hospital. The one that did David and Hannah autopsy. That showed David killed by the hoe.

Why does it have resort to more conspiracy theories, her parents more than likely responded how they thought fit to. Wait for the autopsy results, then you can say that they are covering it up!!!!

The psychologist and cognitive scientist Steven Pinker has a very appropriate quote, that consciousness is the spin doctor of the mind.

When some people feel threatened or scared about an event they can't explain, anxiety kicks in and coming up with a reasonable (on that person's mind) scenario to explain it, specially one that is improbable, becomes a psychological defense mechanism.

It may seem counter intuitive, but believing that simple, but scary events are caused by large and sinister forces makes it feel less threatening, after all, if you are a nervous Nellie what is more comforting to believe? That someone could die under relatively normal, every day circumstances, for example mixing medication and alcohol, or that it must had been the result of extremely unlikely circumstances, i.e. serial killer under the protection of a vague but sinister group of VIPs ?

By convincing themselves that the death must had been caused by unlikely causes it makes it not only less threatening (by being less likely to happen to them or someone they care about), it also provides someone to blame.

In short, it's escapism, with a side dish of self righteousness.

Her parents have flown out to the island ? Or are they trying to make it sound like they were there all along.. This is the sort of reporting that gets peoples suspicions up.

Perhaps they are just stating a fact and not trying to suggest anything else like you are. There is nothing suspicious about the reporting at all except in the minds of the conspirators.

Perhaps her parents have knowledge of an ongoing medical condition which leads them to state she died of natural causes. By her own admission she was taking copious amounts of various drugs mixed with copious amounts of alcohol. But to the likes of berybert and his little band of obsessive Enid Blyton Famous Five playing at detectives types this will never be considered. Just because they desperately want it to have been murder doesn't mean that it was.

Don't forget HER comment on Twitter on 15th...she had obviously caused a bit of a stir with some people....

"So my night ended with two men I repeatedly told I wasn't interested in getting in a bar fight over me. Broken ribs and noses. Intense."

Another sad story. She tweeted about about taking valium and tramadol, both of which could cause death,if taken in excess and/or if mixed with alcohol which she also tweeted about. Hopefully the forensics will do a proper job. If it was drugs and alcohol, that should be easy to determine.

I think that the reason we have many people who are concerned here, - is because of the history on this island.

Forget Sherlock Holmes types, - conspiracy theorists. Yes all have checked in here on TV.

Just look at facts. Yet again, a few days have passed - and as one poster above has mentioned, - it does not take a Sherlock to read a label on a bottle to determine what drugs she was taking or which pharmacy it came from. That should only take a few hours for any reasonable police research to determine. Actually, do not need to be police.... any person with a reasonable intellect can do it. But typical ... oh we do not know yet!

Here is the the interesting thing. Hands tied behind a hung man.... Oh - that was suicide.

A bottle of prescription drugs.... oh that was an accident. Right? Same as falling off a balcony.

No balconies on that island.

What about "hot shot" pills?

Why are people (including me) so doubting and so concerned about the activities and loss of life on that island?

You so called rationalists that say -- ... oh lets wait! Wait for what? More BS data?

This is getting beyond a joke.

I never expected that Thailand would become like it has now.

If the PM does not step in and do a major overhaul soon, - Thailand will be looked on as a "military state", - and the tourism industry will be gone.

We live in a "Global Village" and social networks have great power.

Thailand, .... you are pushing it right now!

If the room at the Intouch Hotel was cleaned up for the next guest within 15 minutes, I guess the non-existent local police forensic team either work extremely fast or was so sure no foul play was involved that they deemed it unnecessary to check for evidence for allowing the cleaners to clean it all away.

And who was it first at Christina room. Clearing it out, cleaning it up before police arrive.

And here come all the professional conspiracy theorists with their extensive knowledge of diseases and illnesses.

sir

i know, beggars belief, they try to be clever and finish up looking stupid.

THERE HAS BEEN THREAD ON FACEBOOK, A GUY LIVING THERE. APPARENTLY SHE WAS ON VALIUM, AND COMBINED WITH BUCKETS OF ALCOHOL AND MEDICATION, AND CHRIST KNOWS WHAT ELSE,

Sorry you theorists and thailand haters, wrong again

And Christ knows what else.

Thank you very much for your well considered point of view. I am sure, what with you being so articulate everyone can move on now.

Maybe his yelling (Caps) and the use of certain words may not be to your liking but at least he is showing what most of us think about the so called armchair detectives, theorists, or just plain know it all, know nothing alarmists. It only takes 2 seconds for theThai haters to get it rolling amongst themselves.

We all know how the police operate and that on many occasions they have shot themselves in the foot by some of their statements but we are in Thailand and this is how it happens. Nothing any of us say or do will change it, although many think they can. Got news for them, it's all bad, won't happen.

Unless anyone has first hand knowledge then all the alarmists are doing is engaging in providing assumptions and speculating, based on what I have no idea. Why for once, can we not have some sensible debate but based on facts, not BS, hearsay or plain old guess work derived from the many years of watching those crime shows on TV. We all need to await the coroners findings, including a toxicology report but then that won't be good enough for many of those on here.

There are even some who are speculating as to when and how the parents arrived, what type of pills the deceased was taking, how much alcohol, etc., etc., etc. No matter what the outcome is, I will say now that many, once they see and digest the findings, will come out and still tell us that it's murder, the findings are incorrect, it's a cover up; has to be some rich family paying off the BIB to stay out of trouble. I for one, will wait and see, it's a shame many others can't.

Sorry lost interest in that after you agreed with him. As a non conspiracy theorist you are quite happy for some one to say she died of a drink and drugs overdose

Whist having no proof of either. And her saying she was taking bucket loads of drugs is a bit like a 14 yr old telling his mates he had 14 pints of cider one night, when in fact he had had half a glass of shandy.

3 non empty bottles of drugs doesn't make one an overdoser. And the fact she mentions she had spent 3000 baht on medication and couldn't afford to go out leads me to believe she probably wasn't drunk either.

But you carry one believing the conspiracy theory that suits your needs.
