I am in the process of arrranging my child's australian passport and was wondering what is acceptable for the photo?

The forms says that it must be a headshot with eyes open. I doubt that the daughter will be anywhere near that co-operative.

Has anyone done this lately, ie since the passport laws changed last December.

What was acceptable and are there any special places (Pattaya preferrably) that caters for kids passport pictures or will any of the multitude of express photo shops be capable?

i had my little squirt get some US passport pictures at 3 months old. i found the best way is to hold your child and then let the photographer take headshots. they can crop your hands out of the picture with a papercutter.

Huski,

I had thought of that, but my daugter is only 1 month old so he sitting anywhere without a lot of support is not easy.

I laid my 4 month old on the floor on a white sheet and stood over him to take the shots. Just hovering over him tended to attract his attention long enough to get a few shots. :o

Just copy/paste huski's avatar  :o they all look alike at that age

the avatar is when my rugrat was 1 hour old, but you can cut and paste, maybe open her eyes up in photoshop.

manfromoz, just hold your infant and they will crop your hands out the picture if need be. have them take 12 photos or more, out of that many you have to find a few winners.

friends of mine had a similar problem, and bubs was only 1 month old. Patience was required until bubs was ready to open her eyes for the camera.

Remember too, Australia passport photos must be on a white background and no smiling is allowed. Strange but true.

I spoke tot he consulate yesterday and they tell me that having her eyes open isn't that big a requirement as long as its a white background and only her face is in the picture. Also, must not have any other people's body parts in the shot, which means no-one can be holding her.

The option of lying her on the floor seems to be the most sensible and useable.

Thank you
