January 28, 201511 yr I need to purchase a Thai swim card airside as we are transiting through to Chiang Rai. If possible, where? Thanks in advance. Rnine. Edited January 28, 201511 yr by rnine
February 20, 201511 yr I don't know of any place airside that sells SIM cards. The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place
February 21, 201511 yr If you really want a SIM card ready when you arrive in Chiang Rai, DTAC will ship one to you anywhere in the world for the cost of the card plus 350 baht: http://store.dtac.co.th/en/happytouristsim#responsive-tabs2 There may also be SIM cards available at the airport in Chiang Rai. I know there are in Chiang Mai, but not sure about Chiang Rai. Maybe someone else has been through the airport there recently and can comment here?
February 22, 201511 yr It's not often necessary to purchase a SIM card airside, as TrueMove H distribute them freely. I always get one or two handed to me as I disembark.
February 23, 201511 yr I had the same problem a few days ago in KL, when I needed to top-up my MAXIS number before continuing to another domestic destination in Malaysia. Simple solution: Go through the REGULAR immigration and then you are in "free land" and you can buy your SIM at those Service-centers that the several providers have set up right after you exit customs check. Buy your SIM card and some top-up value, then head to the regular Domestic departure entrance. there is no problem at all doing it that way
