August 20, 200619 yr Got Xbox 360, and my wireless modem is too far away. Planned to hook it up to my laptop which has wireless connection, but does not work..... how to do it ? Loaded media center, but no luck. Also it says something to the effect of putting in a country, but there is no Thailand there, just singapore, taiwan and a few others.
August 20, 200619 yr I only use the wired network link cos the 360 is close to my router To get the 360 online via wireless network then you will need the Xbox 360 USB wireless adaptor and I'm fairly sure you have to use your wireless router and not via your laptop. Once the USB adaptor is plugged in it is just a matter of entering the setting into the 360 network page Pretty sure I've seen the wireless adaptors in MBK Edited August 20, 200619 yr by Ian_B
August 21, 200619 yr Can't remember exactly off the top of my head, but I know i've done this before. First you need a crossover cable to connect your laptop and xbox. Once connected you need to enable Internet Connection Sharing on your laptop. Other than that i can't help as i've forgotten and i don't have my Xbox or laptop here to try it again! Sorry, just experiment with the settings and you should get it. It's not that hard. Make sure you are using a crossover cable though!
August 21, 200619 yr Forgot to mention; you do NOT need to use media center. Your other option, as Ian B pointed out is to get a wireless adapter. The official one works well but is not that cheap. My one was a bit of a pain to setup, actually it was harder to setup my router for the Xbox than it was to use the Xbox with internet connection sharing on my laptop. Anyway, let us know how you get on. And good luck with your Xbox online... we don't generally get the best connections speeds for gaming in Thailand. Can be frustrating.
August 22, 200619 yr Author Thanks.... will maybe try to get the USB thingy. Not sure whether its worth the investment ?.
August 23, 200619 yr Xbox Live is worth it trust me Besides the multiplayer aspect there are lots of try-before-you-buy games and demos Also good for chatting with your mates back home for free

August 23, 200619 yr Xbox Live is worth it trust meBesides the multiplayer aspect there are lots of try-before-you-buy games and demos Also good for chatting with your mates back home for free How good is the live lagwise from thailand ? Are you playing with us player or korean / japanese ? Any server in asia ? Thks for your reply.
August 23, 200619 yr I generally just select "quick match" and let xbox live sort that out Sometime US, Sometimes Euro or Japan For lag a lot of it depends on the game and how well the muliplayer portion was programmed Some games such as PGR3 & GRAW are often lag-free but others (eg Street Fighter or DOA4) are horrible all the time Hold'em all Poker is out today and this game is multiplayer and FREE for the next 48hrs. It's $10 if you miss the boat and get it at a later date. Shame they don't let you gamble your Xbox live points away though! Edited August 23, 200619 yr by Ian_B
