I send one passport by registered mail to Thailand, I am affraid it be steal ?!

Featured Replies

I send by registred mail, the EU passport of my kid to my thai girlfriend a week ago, and I didn't see anything on tracking website of EMS Thailand when I put the tracking number.. & it's already 1 week that this letter leave my country.

So, 1 month ago, I used to send her documents, with the same way, by registred mail; with the tracking number, ( the same tracking number was work both a website of my EU country post company & also in EMS Thailand website ) When I send a month ago, it was quickly. After two days of the departure of EU country, it was already on EMS Thailand tracking website with ( LAKSI MAIL CENTER : Accepted ) and the next day it was deliver properly to my girlfriend in Nakhon Sawan.

Well now I send a passport, & some documents & one SIM Card into this letter. It's look like a little bit thick letter.. but not so big.. and now I had doubt, & I see even a letter that like need to put a CN22 ( Custom Declaration ) ?! I didn't put that.. the post office here, doesn't help or advice me anything about this, I asked, they just told me it's fine like that..

Well, now, I'm worried why this letter it still locked somewhere & probably in Thailand this letter ( it's already leave my country since a week ago )

Is possible the Thai customs, took it for make a searching into my letter ? ( it will take a longer time ) ? is it a offense to send a passport without declaration ? they will confiscate it ? even sorry, it's possible someone from.. customs will get my passport... as in Thailand have a big business of fraud identity.

Do someone know how it work the tracking with EMS, & customs for box, letters, in Thailand ? Did the first tracking in Thailand it happening before or after customs check ?

Did It's happening in Suvarnabhumi ?

I'm so worried, without that passport my kid can't come with my girlfriend into my country.

I know that I'm quite stupid, it was better to send by DHL, UPS, Fedex, but I was think it was so fiable to send by registered mail as last month ago it was received in 5 days..

good chance its stolen. my friend had her passport stolen the same way

Does the package show up on the EMS tracking website from the post office that you sent it from in your country ?

Items can be stuck in customs for a few days and it can take more than a week for delivery.

All you can do is wait....and hope.

If it doesn't make it, don't say it was stolen or lost in Thailand, say you lost it in your home country.

Don't say you posted it.

Registered mail is not EMS

Registered mail is not EMS

This is true. If it was sent using registered mail or 'international signed for' as they call it in the UK it can take 5 days sometimes but it can just as easily take 14 days for delivery.

Don't give up hope - there's still a chance it will still arrive.

Did you mention on the letter that it contains a passport? If so, the Thais will ask for an extra fee for safe transfer of the passport inside Thailand. This can take up to five weeks. I always tell my company only to mention "business papers", then the passport arrives in between one to two weeks. Depends on who is the forwarder. And as already said, registered mail is not EMS. Just wait, nothing more you can do right now

No, I didn't mention that had passport inside, no mention write into the letter.

So you mean, the Customs will send it to my girlfriend & they will ask to pay money for a special fee at post office right ? ( if customs will open it & discover that have passport ? )

Yes, right I send it by registered mail. ( with Advice of Receipt CN07 )

Finally on LAKSI MAIL CENTER today the letter.. good news

Another happy end!

Good for you clap2.gif

Yes, like I said above sometimes this method is pretty quick, other times it's much slower.

Always go for the courier option be it EMS, DHL, etc, etc for important documents.

Now you just have to hope it dosn't go missing in Thailand...from experience - it probably won't go missing at all.
