PATTAYA: -- Banglamung Police arrested a 52 year old man who had been removed from the monkhood so he could face charges of sexually assaulting his 10 year old step-daughter over the period of 3 months.

Oh dear, better not carry my camera around, I might get taken for a paedophile!

Contender for idiot post of the day RT555

Actually - yours is - as you completely misunderstood what RT555 was trying to say.

You've made a fool of yourself.

I'd be interested to read how owning a Mac computer or camera has anything to do with paedophilia, pray tell!

You were the first and second to make the association so maybe you could tell us.

Interested minds want to know.

So we just need to accept that some monks are not meant to be there just like those in the Catholic Church (Including those right up to the very top have covered it upbah.gif ) who have been engaged in paedophilia.
Doesn't mean that all monks don't take their role seriously

Another example of Thainess as its best.

It's shocking coming from a monk.

Not only Thainess. This happens in every country that men live in. And don't forget the Catholic priests and bishops while you jump on the monk

.

""And don't forget the Catholic priests and bishops ..."

And politicians, doctors, BBC presenters... most of whom went undetected for decades through police indifference, incompetence or corruption. ... UK-ness ?

Just because someone puts on robes or a lab coat or whatever, it doesn't magically transform him into a saint, nor should it mean we tar all people in those professions or of those nationalities with the same brush. Feet of clay can be found (or overlooked) everywhere.

If someone sees such things as uniquely Thai, he's either amazingly naive or else he just wants to seize every opportunity to generalize the flaws of individuals to promote his Thai bashing platform.

A whistleblower who kicked off UK police pedophile probe Operation Fernbridge believes as many as 40 British MPs and peers were involved in or turned a blind eye to child abuse.

A former children's doctor has been convicted of sexually assaulting young girls at Stoke Mandeville Hospital during the 70s and 80s, at the same time Jimmy Savile was abusing patients.

Interesting..... Has to be removed from the monkhood before they can press charges?

Yes - and in some cases it takes intervention from the hierarchy to force a monk out.

Throw the book at this super freak. He never was a monk. He just wore the robe. He is a degenerate. Lock him up for the rest of his natural life. Shame him, humiliate him, allow him to be exposed to his fellow prisoners, where he will become a slave to them. It is incumbent on the government to make sure he is tried, convinced, and sentenced to life in prison.

It's the same with the catholic priest pedo's. They can't be convicted in a court of law as long as they are priest, and the cowards at the top refuse to dishonor them, probably as they are afraid that more dead bodies fall out of the closet.

@phrodan, perhaps there is a fourth reason (and if there is, it could be explained by your other reasons, although I doubt it). And that is acceptance of your situation. Part ennui born of a weariness with an intractable system, part conditioning of your lot in life. One of the things that you seldom see here is a determination to fight for your rights. There is yet another piece to the puzzle, but it is not allowed to be mentioned here, other than to say that one of its manifestations is total obeisance.

Where did you get that idea? Priests aren't above the law.

Another shocking farangness at its best.

it's shocking coming from a farang to make such comment.

Since when was it mentioned that he committed the offense during his monk hood?

He is still married to that lady and they stayed together for 2 yrs before he enter monk hood.

The complain was filed in Oct. So that means there is a possibility that he enter monk hood during that time and not committ the allegations while he was still a monk

How does a monk get a stepdaughter in the first place?

I presume he married the child's mother... that was before he became a monk.

As I read it he disappeared last October, when he knew the wife (ex-wife) was going to shop him, found some far away temple to to hide by becoming a monk until the heat died down.
