Hi

I'm interested in visitng and staying in Thailand, just for the sake of travelling, and was wondering what I needed to do, if I wanted to stay there for say, 6 months, or however long I wanted. I've beenr eading the forums and faqs, would I be most suited to a tourist visa (90 days?) making visa runs etc. And is there a limit to how many times you can renew the visa?

Basically, would I be able to stay in Thailand as long as I wanted if I was willing to make the visa run every 90 days?

I'm from the UK and could take a lot of money if this helps.

cheers

You would be best getting a Triple Entry Tourist Visa.

This would allow you up to three entries into Thailand within six months from the issue date. You will be allowed to stay for 60 days on each entry.

It is possible to get an extension onto the 60 days by visiting Immigration, but this shouldn't be relied on as it is at the discretion of the Immigration Officer.

For this reason and for peace of mind it is best to just get the triple.

ok thanks, with a triple entry visa, I assume I'd still need to do a visa run every 60(or 90) days?

If I still wanted to stay after this term, would I need to go home and reapply for another triple entry visa?

I'll try to find out for myself the requirements for one of these.

With the tourist visa you will have to do a visa run every 60 days.

You can go to a country neighbouring Thailand and get tourist visas, but many of the consulates/embassies seem to only give single entry. Someone else can maybe tell you which embassy/consulate is best to get more than a single entry tourist visa.

I have sent you a PM also.
