I think it depends on the situations, I had the same concern last month and I had the following options:

1. Do a visa run to Laos to get another Non B - But the problem is, some of the documents are not ready yet.

2. Do a visa run to Cambodia - But I need to cut my Non B which will incurred additional cost

3. Stay in Thailand and pay for 2,500 for 5 days overstay

I choosed the option #3 for the following reasons:

1- Some of the documents for Non B visa are not ready (The person handling them was on vacation during that time)

2- If I will exit in Cambodia, I need to pay 1,500 for my Non B to be cut. (That's aside from the visa run fee of 700bht. then I will have another 15 days again)

3- My employer agreed to pay for my 5 days overstay

Of course, I don't want any "overstay" stamp on my passport but I was on the situation that the most practical solution is to over stay.

I don't know, I was really confused during that time. Perhaps, anyone here can suggest what's the best way to handle this kind of

situation.

The best way would have been for you to get a 7 days extension at immigration. Cost Bt 1,900 and does not require any documentation.
