webfact
Truck Fire at Central Pattaya Underpass Construction SitePATTAYA: -- A truck fitted with a loader-crane burst into flames on Monday afternoon after it came into contact with live power cables. No injuries or fatalities were reported as a pair of gloves is thought to have prevented one worker from receiving a potentially fatal electric shock.Pattaya Fire Fighters rushed to the scene of the fire on the Sukhumvit Road opposite the Index Living Mall, just before 3pm.The lucky driver and operator of the crane is Khun Rat aged 47, who told Police that the loader-crane accidentally came into contact with live power cables as he was preparing to lift concrete barriers into position so part of the road could be closed in preparation for construction of the underpass which will pass under the Central Pattaya Road intersection with the Sukhumvit Road.Full story: http://www.pattayaone.net/pattaya-news/170090/truck-fire-at-central-pattaya-underpass-construction-site/-- Pattaya One 2015-02-

Woody1
I predict this tunnel will provide as many news reports as necklace snatching, condo jumpers, and ladyboy drugging's. Already one serious accident and the work hasn't even started in earnest!! Here's a few more predictions; It won't be completed on schedule, It won't be completed within budget, It won't be completed without fatalities, It will provide years of traffic misery, It will flood regularly during construction, It will be the country's greatest engineering disaster. I wonder how many of these will be proven right in 5 or 6 years time?

DLP
I dont think i will be seeing any light at the end of this tunnel. They should be building an overpass.
joepattaya1961
Someone "up there" doesn't agree on the tunnel-project either...........at least someone who understands "us". But hey....one positive thing is.............after completion of the project in 2020 some bright light at cityhall will propose the extention of the tunnel pass Thepprasit Road and the extra pumps that are being installed at Beach Road will be relocated to the Klaang-tunnel........ petercool
I passed by minutes after the accident and police, fire brigade, ambulance, rescue and other volunteers were indeed there in a very timely fashion.
Woody1
I passed by minutes after the accident and police, fire brigade, ambulance, rescue and other volunteers were indeed there in a very timely fashion.Very reassuring to hear, now if the police could only manage to rush to the scene (in a timely manner) of stabbings, constant jet ski scams, and necklace thefts that take place right outside the police station I might be slightly more impressed.PS, the reason (as you'll know) the rescue services rush there is that there is an earner in it for the 1st crew on the scene!!
