Penang - Non Imm Visa

Featured Replies

Hi,

I've have had no success with searches for the info I need so here goes..

A friend needs any kind of Non imm Visa avail so she can take the Thai driving test. She is a UK citizen and has stayed in Thailand for over 1 year now, is single, does not have a large amount of money in a Thai bank account but has a 1yr rental agreement @ an expensive apartment block in Bangkok, she is currently on a 30 day entry stamp and is 29yrs old.

Is she going to be wasting her time with Penang or is there any other alternatives?

Thanks for any info :o

I seem to remember reading in this forum that you can get a Thai driving license with a “certificate of residence”, i.e. some kind of address confirmation, and where – because of the visa status – this certificate cannot be obtained from Immigration you can get it from your embassy. Perhaps the same applies for the driving test. In other words, non non-O visa needed.
