March 23, 200421 yr from http://www.out-east.com No Go Areas... Sorry and all that but there are some places I don't go any more. In Bangkok, Thermae, the Grace Coffee Shop and the Nana Hotel disco all add up to a psychic no-man's land where you have to check your soul in at the door. Desperate women, one step away from joining the diseased - both physically and mentally - street walkers on the lower end of Sukhumvit; well matched to punters who give every impression of being on their last legs. Similarly, the whole of Soi 6 off Beach Road in Pattaya, with its dismal short-time ethos, makes me want to throw up. These are not people I want in my life. I would include a few Pattaya go-go bars in my avoid-at-all-costs list, too, but won't name them as I don't particularly want to be beaten to a pulp ? on the edge of things, Pattaya is a totally lawless zone where a bit of dosh in the right pocket cancels out any concept of human rights and the law of the land. I really don't get some gals I know who move down from somewhere like Happy Go-Go to TQ and then end up in a Soi 6 dive, one step away from joining the walking dead on the Beach Rd Promenade. Souls eaten away by gut-rot local whisky Lao and ya-baa? Or just so fazed by the life that they lack any self-respect; or maybe they can't pass the cursory medical tests in the go-go's any more. The whole bar scene has generally degenerated into a ######-on-earth routine ? so much beautiful flesh on view it's mind and cock bending but the women mere husks as far as Oriental feminineness goes... basically any decent Thai lady down on her luck goes and pokes her head into any of the neon dives, clocks the dismal internal state of the babes, and general ambiance of the dead, and gets the first bus back to Nakorn Nowhere. You would not believe the sheer number of Thai women who want to get a farang in their life - from a concoction of getting fiscally ahead of the game and actually finding someone willing to devote their lives to them (unlike a lot of the local no-hopers) - but mention doing the bar scene as a way into the hearts of farang and they show a huge amount of sense and determination in refusing to have anything to do with the neon. Go figure the state of the gals who actually indulge! In many ways, the government's drive to close down the neon dives is actually behind the times, any women likely to be of interest to farang (disease and pimp/husband free) have already deserted the scene and it's just one overwhelming brothel rumpus with the odd bit of hyper-bullshit acting thrown in to keep the ignorant punters on their toes. The go-go scene can now be seen only as a cheap form of entertainment, nothing more. Sorry, wrong country at the wrong time! The police raided the CM2 disco under the Novatel in Siam Square, closed it down for thirty days because one underaged imp managed to get past the management checks at the door (I always offer my passport but they never want to check my age...). The cops were looking for Russian hookers (no accounting for taste) but only found some very nice Eastern European tourists on valid visas, couldn't touch them. CM2 isn't a bad disco ? better than the Nana hotel club anyway ? but no-one thought to arrest the live band for doing early seventies Motown crap music. Not a fair world! Songran escapees who don't want to be in town for the dreaded water thrashing week (11-17th April) and are going back to cold climes might want to dig around the Factory Outlet shop at the back of Amarin Plaza if they need to find cheapish warm clothes, with some good brand-names on offer. She-who-must-be-obeyed turned out to be the same size as a farang twelve year-old! The top floor of the old department store has the most affordable stuff, about a fifth of what you'd pay in farangland. Got one over on the Pantip boys, they didn't have a copy of Xandros 2 Linux which was recommended by the UK's Personal Computer World magazine if you just want a system for a single machine. Next week they will probably be up to speed, fast learners. BTW, this site is produced using OpenOffice 1.1 (another freebie from PCW), which I only got around to using after Word went haywire on me ? I won't be going back, either. OpenOffice was originally done for Linux so I figure it's an excuse to give the operating system another try though I never really got on with the latest RedHat Linux, even if it came with lots of free games that kept she-who-must-be-obeyed amused. Figure both Xandros and OpenOffice to be worth a look especially if you buy one of the cheap laptops that come without an operating system (sub 30k baht!). BTW thought the latest ThaiCom show kinda sucked, had more fun wandering around Pantip ? and better bargains, too. ******************************* the places he mentions are full of badass very streetwise very short timers who appear to be driven harder by their mang das.. they must rate as tough as Parisian hookers on a bad day the days when you could find a sweet girl who would party till the next day and do some shopping appear to be long gone , allthough its the numbers game ,if you process enough females you can find a nugget or two.. but the scene of Nana -Grace - thermae-sukhumvit is really nasty nowadays ..
March 23, 200421 yr Christ , the original Thermae was THE place , when it moved it became sterile. I think it belongs in a different time , some things don't age so well. Too many desperate bastards these days , too true.
March 24, 200421 yr Right, the different time it belonged in was 2 am. to 6 am., when the great influx of bargirls would really make Thermae a happening place every night. Still, I would suggest it's not quite as bad as indicated on this thread, or maybe I've always had pretty good luck there. Currently I'm taking a lovely lady out of Thermae about once a week. She is more svelte and attractive than 90 % of BGs, and I think her attitude is perhaps not quite so poisoned because she can choose when she wants to go to "work", and does not have to endure the car-alarm music, cigarette smoke and leering punters every evening. At any rate, I can still save the 500 or 600 baht BF, and she is most happy with 1000 for a happy sexy short time.

Before I met and settled down with Mia Yai of course....
March 24, 200421 yr Pattaya is a totally lawless zone where a bit of dosh in theright pocket cancels out any concept of human rights and the law of the land. Can you elaborate on this a bit?
March 24, 200421 yr Hmmm and I thought Eric was into Lady Boys? Nah definitely not as bad as Eric has put it. There will always be exceptions, but for the most part I think the state of affairs are pleasant. Mind you I would have to agree about Beach Rd, normally the TG are on their last legs when they reach this spot!
March 24, 200421 yr Pattaya has it's knockers (fnarr fnarr ) but theres a lot worse places on this planet , Reading town centre on a busy shopping afternoon for one....
March 24, 200421 yr We have a TG Friday in Reading as well... But wouldn't you agree it's done with more panache in Mikes/MBK/Royal Garden/Big C as opposed to stumbling around the Oracle centre with pikeys begging/selling heather for £5 a throw...
March 24, 200421 yr pikeys begging/selling heather for £5 a throw... lol. Remember "Irish ######" got the hump over that Chon ?
March 24, 200421 yr Author Christ , the original Thermae was THE place , when it moved it became sterile.I think it belongs in a different time , some things don't age so well. Too many desperate bastards these days , too true. agree on that one, it was great cruising in the back door ,very sleazy and chock full at the late hour , is it my imagination or were the girls there better looking than nowadays. i am sure the quality has gone downhill. the better lookers can probly find work in a snooker hall or some mall or become a mia noi nowadays...these options were not available when thermae 1 was open , or were much less than now .. thermea2 doesnt seem so sleazy as 1 ..

Ah the back door.... I think the lighting has improved too much in T 2 , in the old days you could forgive the lack of visibilty for the old hag in the pit next day , so I am told , ahem ahem..
